Stainless steel 316l question

Hi! I'm getting my griffin tank in the next day or so and I'm gonna make some regular clapton coils and I have 26 gauge ss 316l and some 36 gauge regular kanthal. Am I gonna get the flavor benefits from using the 316l and wrapping it with kanthal? Do you get better flavor with wrapping it with 316l? I'm hoping I don't have to buy some 36 gauge 316l. I have a ton of 36 gauge kanthal. Thanks for any help!

Yes, you should be able to Clapton SS316L with Kanthal, and still run it in TC mode (your best bet would be to not have the Kanthal inserted into the post holes with the SS, it should still work regardless, but this would take any chances of misreading resistance out of the equation). You should still get similar benefits to a full Kanthal Clapton, like Flavor and Vapor production, but I would imagine it running much cooler using it in TC as opposed to Power Mode.

I don't know of too many people wrapping 316L with 316L. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen it done. The cost and availability are too prohibitive, probably. Kanthal or nichrome will work just fine, though I imagine most of the flavor benefits will be due to the fact that its a clapton build, not because of the type of wire you use.
