I have a ipv4s and I'm running a harakles plus tank and just put a ss 316 .2ohm replacement coil in it and ever since sometimes its ok, other times when when I go to use it the resistance goes crazy especially when I fire it sometimes all the way to .7 ohms but it was great with the last ss 316 coil in it. Could it be a bad coil cause the mod reads good on everything else or tank

Try cleaning all the coil connections, if that doesn't work it's probably a bad coil.

It's my understanding that SS does not have a stable resistance like kanthal. This is why it can be used as a temp control wire. I use SS316 in temp mode and the resistance will always raise as it heats up but the DNA chip measures that change to maintain the temp. On the other hand, the change in resistance isn't extreme enough not to use in power mode. Some one correct me if I'm wrong.

If this was a RBA I would say to tighten the post screws. But I would still check the connects. loose head, loose insulator, 510 connection.
Some change to the resistance when fired is Normal for all wires and all builds. This change when heated is WHY we lock the resistance when using TC mode. This is done so the mod regulates based on a baseline resistance rather than what it's meter is reading at the moment. It does use the reading to make the adjustments but the adjustment is BASED off the original resistance.

Ya I forgot to mention to lock the resistance when the coil is cold if in temp mode. Here's my question, I have always used SS in temp mode. If I wanted to use it in power mode should I still lock the resistance?

Actually it does have a stable resistance, it it just much lower than kanthal. Any metal when heated up will increase in resistance to some degree.

The OP most likely has the mod intermittently contacting the coil, or the contacts are dirty, or a bum coil head.
