Yeah I know about the mod's that can't use it for tc, but I was just saying that I use it in tc and non tc applications alike.
For tc I use it on the sxmini and the dna200

I'm still getting my feet wet with SS, but I can definitely see using it exclusively. I just need to get my hands on some thinner stuff for duals, that or get a better mod :p.

Yea, I could see that as the only disadvantage of SS along with Ni80 is low ohms if youre not a low ohm builder. Because thinner wire, less surface area, the biggest draw is the flavor. Its definately not a myth anymore. Stainless Steel absolutely has a cleaner taste compared to Kanthal. I think once you get a good build goin and vape it for awhile, then go back to kanthal, youll knowwww, anyways good luck! Looking back, I really hate I got so heated over that guy earlier in the thread, but I am also so glad I started this thread. It seems alot of people have tried SS, enjoyed it, and have a better vaping experience now and that is all that matters. Thank you guys for continuing to report back and update so others could better make a decision! In my experience, SS and Ni80 are neck and neck, I swap them all the time and dont notice. But I have kanthal reels that will eventually be trashed. Im working with Titanium now with TC, its pretty darn tasty.

I loved the stainless coils with the Uwell Crown tank, so when I got a Billow v2, after some research, I ordered 316l wire.

It's easy and cheap to get from either a welding supply place or just off amazon.

It bends/forms a little easier than kanthal and a lot easier than nichrome, can handle a lot of heat, is very neutral flavored. It also works with TC on my Koopor mod. When I use it on the Sigelei ummm 70watt it doesn't do TC very well, nor my other mods.

Apparently the DNA200's handle SS just fine though

So I've been taking a look on steam engine, and come to find out 430SS has less resistance than 316/317LSS. Looks like I may build some duals after all...

Where's the best place to find 316L?
If your not in a hurry use Fasttech. This is the SKU# 3237800 for authentic UD 316L wire. Choose China post if they give you the option to

NICHROME for life...
Don't know anything about ss
But kanthal taste like metal!! ALL THE TIME
IMO

VAPE ON

ANY place I have ever worked, has had a exhaust system in place to suck all the fumes away from the work. Some places have a respirator system in your shield.

I'm not going to get in a deep discussion about the dangers, because those convinced stainless and nickel are no big deal, are already convinced.

And sure, I'll concede, that welding is producing more fumes then vaping. But the danger is there and long term exposure is real.

It's up to each of us to research for ourselves and make the decision that is right for ourselves. We don't need advocates on one side or the other to tell us what is safe and what isn't. That is for each of us to decide.

We certainly are heating the wire/juice to higher levels than they would naturally be exposed to (atmosphere). Common sense should tell us that disturbs the atoms of the metal. And when you go disturbing atoms, things can happen, either negative or positive.

I'm just here as someone on the other side that says "no thanks". Vape what you want. If you are not sure, do a little research and decide for yourselves.
Yeah your right hexavalient chromium is in stainless steel I'm a pipe welder I've should have used a respiratory but I chosen to see and not have my glasses and welding Lens fog up pretty stupid on my part but I always wanted to make sure I had X-ray quality welds and chose to breath the fumes I can tell it's taken its toll have shakes from time to time which I believe all welders do but pipe welder is who I am and what I love to do. Not 100% sure but hexavalient chromium may cause Parkinson

This stuff also gives a great flavor with no metal taste.
View attachment 29592

ive never had a metal taste with and coil. do you give your coils a few long glows and some dowses before wicking? But back to your Q, as far as performance
i havent really noticed a difference except having to use more to get the same resistance. im dead set on .4 on my istick and my derringer is short so the more compact the better.
i have not tried and not sure how i feel about using nickel chromium so i wouldnt look at that in my opinion if your were wondering about that too...
got .my exthermals last rebuild was with ss. they vape about the same to me. but the ss should be better at preventing cake up and make cleaning easier not sure because my praxis is my daily vapor the exthermal was just an experiment its stainless why not also use stainless wire? :D so i rarely use it(its a F'n huge rda also) and i havent had to clean or recoil it yet . ss does hold shape a bit better too it seems. id give it a shot! if you already know the ideal coil and setup then go ahead and replicate it in ss. just remember to give your coils a few fires till they glow almost white dunk em in water repeat 3 times to make sure everything nasty is out. then wick em n juice em :) oh almost forgot! since stainless is a little more sturdy is doesnt flatten as easy which is good less deformities = less coil hot spots to tune out- i bypassed that issue with kanthal by using clapton style wire and the way i wind and coil it though. but yeah stainless aint bad stuff^^

go a head and try it and see for your self. for a test to see your preference, wrap on a 3mm tool two coils, 1 kanthal coil at your desired ohm rating and wrap 1 stainless with the same ohm rating. id use a standard straight wire nothing fancy just a plain ol coil to keep the test consistant. wick them the same use the same juice vape'm at the same power level and see which one you like better. one important thing ive learned about vaping. you can learn from others how to get big clouds but getting the desired taste with the clouds, is all figuring it out for yourself what tastes good to me might taste like s*** to you^^ oh one more thing ive noticed wicking and air flow to the coils effects taste more than anything also the right temp for your juice. gotta find them sweet spots! theres alot more to vaping than most people realize, this is what ive learn from chasing my perfect vape, only way it could get better is if i could make my own custard^^ hope you get it sorted and hope this helps happy vapping! ^^b

You are using Nickel on a mech mod? WTF?

Why is there so much retardedness in this thread. Y'all need to learn more about battery safety and the wires you are using for vaping.

chill before you start hounding ppl. ive seen ppl doing dumb shit too.
common sense if you feel that F'r gettin hot AF let it cool off. know what i mean? mechs are not good for cloud comp style vaping anyways they cant handle the drain. my box has a dangerous batt inside it too but boxes typically have a temp control shut off for idiots who wont let off to allow it to cool for a bit. it has a 10sec draw limit too on top of the temp shut down feature. so if youre ganna vape like mt st helens during an eruption and dont want to be precautious then use a regulated box mod. nothing is going to make that batt explode instantly its ganna take a sec or 2 PLENTY of time to take your damn finger off the fire and allow it to cool or a minutes or 2. lol oh cool thing for extra mech safety: the make tubes that except vented caps so if your lion ever did decide to melt down it will just take your thumb off instead of loosing your face when your non vented tube turns into a pipe bomb xD
now this is not directly towards you this comment is also to be informitive for those who look up vape explosions on google lol

Anyone been able to source any stainless steel wire locally? Home Depot, Michaels, etc? I checked all over and came up with nothing.

I have been testing SS316L. Bought some authentic Triton Coils in SS316L and bought 26 and 28G for rebuilding them. Tests went so well I order 100 feet of 28, 26, 24 and 22. I plan on using it more as I have even told a couple people I may use it for everything now. Kanthal will still have its place, but for me if SS does TC and watts what could be better than that. Time will direct me where I am going with SS. CHEERS!

Yeah, no dice. They only had the memory coils that are hardened to retain their shape.

Just order some from amazon or ebay man I got mine off of Amazon like 60ft for 5 bucks or something

Just use fasttech. This is the SKU# 3237800. It's legit UD 316L. Half the price of most places stateside. Use PayPal. When they ask for shipping method, choose China post. It'll bee in your hands within 2 weeks. Unless somethings screwed up

If you pick Singapore post that's the most likely scenario
That's exactly what I have going on. I have 3 spools coming to me from FT and I just ran out of my Ti wire. Bad planning, I guess. Just looking for something to play with now. Oh well, looks like I'll have to be happy with my builds for now.

Copper?? Seriously?
I've only subbed for a few months but know a lot about metals and resistance....and I am here to tell you, that is NOT safe. Not at all

So what's with all this "SS is unsafe talk"? I use Nichrome80 pretty much exclusively and if this is turning out to be better than Nichrome I'll definitely give it a try, but what's with all this talk about it being unsafe? I know we aren't certain that any of this could be completely safe like said before, but seems like a lot of people are using this already.

Not sure I follow you, bud. I can blow some serious clouds out of my unregulated mod if I really wanted and my batteries in there can handle the drain quite well.

I have only been given a link to a company in UK. They ship. They have several sizes of 430.

I want 430 for the higher TCR. Still low by nickle standard, but 50% higher than 316.

Okay so my 316L SS wire came in today. 28g/32g Claptons in my Petri 1.5 clone on my Hohm Wrecker and flavor is STELLAR. I just switched out a kanthal and this crushes it in every way. Ramp up time is super short and the flavor is amazing with rayon.

Somehow TC is working on the Hohm Wrecker even thought it only has Ni200 mode! I'm sold, obviously

So I have a parallel mech coming and the safe or I feel safe build is around. 2. Which gauge ss is ideal for that building dual coils?

R3alJim Shady

Depends on what coils you want. Claptons? Twisted? Parallel? If you want just normal coils, I'd say 24g. Double check on Steam Engine though.
