Steeping and a Modified Recipe

I guess I would consider myself somewhat of an experienced DIYer, but I have a newbie kind of question that some of you "old timers" might be able to answer for me.

I don't use heat or any other method to speed up the process of steeping, instead shaking occasionally and letting a new mix sit for a week or two or three, or even longer. Then I use the juice if it's an old recipe, or sample if a new one. The sampling on a new recipe is where my question originates.

If I sample and my opinion is that I need more Cap Vanilla Custard V2 and I add the appropriate amount, how long do I need to wait to sample again to get the full effect. Maybe that was an unfair example since that particular custard takes a longer steep than most other flavors I guess:devil: Maybe I should have used Cap Sweet Strawberry, or TFA Sweetener, or FA Bilberry, or whatever for the example.

The base question remains the same regardless of flavor, once you have a fully steeped juice, how much time do you give it before tasting to check the affect of your modification? Thanks in advance for any comment you may offer.:)

Depending somewhat on what exactly the modification is, I give it no time at all to try it. After all, after a quick sample I might decide the mix needs even further modification. ;)

Over time I will revisit the mix and note when the "sweet spot" is achieved. (Or...what I may have done to screw up :D)

I would test it after the same time frame that you decided that it needed to be modified, if that makes sense. Otherwise, how would you know where you like it? Did that make sense, lol?

If tested at 1 week and you decide to modify, do so, then test at one week again, as an example.

Good grief Huck. I'm old and I don't know if I have that long to wait ;)

CAP VC v2 normally needs less steep time than the v1 IMO.

And if your only adding small amounts you could probably get away with 24hrs.

I normally go 24 to 48 hours for basic adjustments. Like when I am just touching up a flavor...like adding 0.07 to 1% its a fruit flavor. For fruit, normally 24 hours. But if I am doing something like adding oba ona fa I give three days since that's when it starts doing its magic.

If like let say you made a bunch of side by side bakery mixes. And 1 out of the 3 doesn't work good and you say to your self I have 5 untested odd ball flavors just sitting here...I add an appropriate percent and let steep for a week...which is my preferance....to get a repeatable result.
