When it comes to mixing and steeping, how important is the empty space in the bottle? Is less more (less room for the flave molecules to escape).

I've been known to over think things, lol

i try and leave no room at all because I'm always concerned about oxidizing the nic, and it giving the juice a harsh flavor, but I mix at 12-13mg of nic...if you mix in the 6-3 mg range I don't know if it is as much an issue.

I'm no help there, I like throat hit, plus I mix high PG. Something I hadn't considered, so good point.

I find the steeping and shaking daily and breathing daily to be nonsense. I shake it like crazy once and leave it. That's for vendor products. I assume having some room to shake it would be prudent. I have some that are filled to the top that I can't shake at all. You need those bubbles in there. IMHO.

Yeah, just let the juice do it's thing. I can't say that it matters, but I've never even thought about it. More room makes it easier to shake is all I can come up with.

This in my opinion also.

I do try to uncap and let it breath on one day over the weekend when it steeping.

Room to shake is very important.

I think that I will stop the venting process for now. If harshness becomes an issue, then I'll revisit this. Thnx all!

I had a large order from a vendor that tasted bad...all of it. I was mostly 24nic at the time, too. No matter what I did, even letting it breathe overnight didn't cure it. I assume letting it breathe that long affected the nic strength too. Eventually, they had to resend the entire order.

I have ejuice in my frig, in my hall closet, in my husbands dresser drawer and in one of my drawers. The closet ones...there's no way I can reshake and breathe them on occasion...too far up and soooo many of them. I hope they're not too harsh after I bring them out to breathe. I just put another 2 dozen 100ml in there and forgot which were old and which were new. They're all in complete darkness.

Any advice on high nic ejuice - best steeping method?

Just shake, and keep cool & dark, you can shake on occasion if you feel ambitious but I usually don't bother.
High VG may need it more tho.

Oooh. I filled them 2 nights ago up to 1/8 inch of the cap top. I thought it might need some shaking but thought what I heard was right. Maybe for pg based. I can always thaw and split again. For now, it's stayin' put. Still need to order more bottles though. Man!

Oh, what about storing my plain pg/vg in the freezer. The plastic gallons it came in okay? Yeah, I'm ready to mix for an entire army.

If you want more oxidation as part of the steep increase headspace or air exposure. You want to reduce oxidation, reduce the amount of air exposure.

It won't hurt anything if you have the extra room.
And if the temp in your house hits 80 regularly it may be a good idea anyway.
A cool basement would be ideal.
My typical house temp is like 75 tops in the summer so I don't bother...

I nic my juice after steeping.

I can shake and stir to my hearts content, without concern about oxidization. It also allows me to sample my juice at 0mg.

I take larger bottles than I need. So, there is air, and it's easier to shake. So I would say it depends on your taste (air or not).

Hi all, I'm new to this site and diy, my first batch of ingredients are due for delivery tomorrow, iv kept things simple for myself, I ordered a premix base of 70vg/30pg 3mg and a few premix concentrate flavours so all I have to do is mix the base with the flavours, what kind of steeping process can I expect from this set up considering the flavouring are already mixed and all I am doing is mixing the base and flavour??

Mostly dependent on what the flavors are...
Custards, some Creams & Vanillas, CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, etc., can vary from a week to a month.
Most fruits & Bakery types I just go 24hrs, however I'm using 70PG/30VG so it seems to blend easier.
Higher VG can sometimes be a bit more stubborn & requires more shaking to get it mixed well IMO.
Be sure to shake the crap out of the base AND flavoring before mixing.

Thank you for the reply, il shake well before mixing and steep for a day and see how they taste, the 3 concentrates i ordered all contain those ingredients that you've listed lol so may need more than a day, would I be right or wrong in saying because the concentrate is a premixed clone would it need less time to steep, the clones I got are dragons blood, milk man and unicorn milk if you've heard of them, thanks

Actually it's the flavors that need to blend in with the base PG,VG, & NIC.
Not much difference between mixing flavors in one at a time or from a pre-mix.
Just for the simplicity of only adding/measuring 1 flavoring vs several.
Still need to steep either way.

BTW Welcome to VU...

Note.. the steep clock may need to be reset to zero... anytime you add ingredients to a juice. Say you make some juice... let it age 3 months.... only thing is when you made it you did 9mg.. now you vape at 6. So you add some base. The clock may need to go back to zero and start t he steep process all over. Same goes for increasing nice or just adjusting pgvg ratio or flavorings. Any change to a juice may mean more aging is needed.
