You should try to educate some of the members on here who call what comes out of their vaporizer "smoke". I continually tell them if their MOD is producing smoke than something is seriously wrong~!

It pisses me off when some people I don't even know see me vape and tell me that it's just as bad as smoking.
Idiots!

People like that get an education in how Vaping is NOT Smoking and lack of combustion is not smoking~! 95% safer than smoking and that is because they can't claim it is higher but the number is more like 99%.

Vaping or using an Electronic Cigarette is NOT SMOKING, this is what makes them so much safer than traditional tobacco cigarettes, it is the act of combustion, the act of burning something that makes tobacco cigarettes so harmful, vapor products slightly heat a combination of chemicals that are generally regarded as safe to the point where they evaporate into a vapor which the user inhales.

Second hand exposure is not something to worry about, the CDC tested second hand vapor under extreme conditions where many people were vaping in an enclosed space without ventilation and determined that potential exposure to any toxins is well below any work safety standards and not a cause for concern. I do understand that some people may find some of the smells offensive, perhaps asking the person to change their flavor to a different type or use unflavored may help you.

Generally what happens to people once vaping is no longer permitted in their office space is they are forced into the same locations as smokers. You have to remember these people are ex-smokers many of which spent a great deal of their life trying to quit smoking and now that they finally have essentially what office bans do will put them in a position where they will be surrounded by tobacco cigarette smokers, to put this into perspective you wouldn't hold a Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in a bar during happy hour would you? What's worse is you are putting them into a position where they will be in contact with cancer causing second hand smoke.

Quitting smoking is tough, take it easy on the people using these devices, try to come to an agreement instead of just pushing for bans as you may end up being responsible for them getting cancer should they be forced to vape with smokers

While yer irate at her, consider the "fumes" comment as well. <shrug>

I thought about that but - one battle at a time

And technically, vapor is included in the definition of fume

People like this woman is the reason there is work place violence. Did anybody see the second question? Woman claims her son was convicted of a low level felony and was put on sexual offenders list. There is no low level felons on that list

Yeah, felony usually means a victim  - not something stupid like getting caught soliciting an undercover cop for a bj or something stupid like that :giggle:

I've encountered smokers telling me how bad my vape is, and either I ignore them, or tell them to mind their business and to 'keep sucking the cancer stick' and ask them 'how much they are enjoying the formaldehyde taste'...

They usually shut right the hell up, and then give me the evil eye, and at that point they are fair game to be downwind of my clouds as I up the wattage to the 'nuclear' setting and do my best to blot out the sun...with my 'smoke'

(not really though, but that's the movie going on in my head, I usually just say nothing and walk away since you cant fix stupid nor the maliciously ignorant)

The first time I saw a vape was when a colleague/smoking buddy brought one to work. I truly knew nothing about them. I was intrigued and asked lots of questions. I then started looking up info. Two weeks later I was vaping. Since then, I've talked with a number of smokers (there's a lot in this country) and only 3 reacted the same way as I. All three of them have quit and now vape. I helped them all out with everything, from batteries to DIY. The rest of the smokers I've spoken to all have preconceived notions and have made their judgments already. That's what pisses me off. So many people are proudly ignorant and they stubbornly hold on to it as if it were of great value.

A prevalent state here in the USA on many things.
Ohh the proudly ignorant and jealous of the more enlightened.

I don't mind Proud, Stubborn, or Ignorant.

I mind them pushing those on everyone else with more Regs and Legislation; I'm perfectly willing to let them go to hell on their own.

In all honesty the woman using her vape in the office is making the rest of us look bad. Smokers are so hated in the USA and I really don't want vapers to be viewed the same way. You shouldn't be vaping inside a public building imo or anywhere that smoking isn't allowed.

Lol at the person who asked the question though. It's pretty pathetic that an adult can be so timid, so afraid of confrontation, that they need to write in to a Dear Abby for advice on how to ask a co-worker to stop doing something that is bothering them, even when their actions are clearly against company policy. The person who wrote in must constantly get pushed around, cut in line, and taken advantage of.

I think Floridians must just have some sort of general grudge against vaping anyway. Back in 2014 when my husband and I went down there on vacation, there was a sign in the Amtrak station stating "No Smoking - This Includes Electronic Cigarettes." In 2014!!!

It may be interesting to note that I saw more vapers down there in five days than I'd seen in my whole life before, so perhaps Tampa was a place where vaping caught on much earlier than where I live. Obviously the ban against vaping inside was in force, because most of the vapers I saw were office people out standing on the sidewalk in front of their office buildings, vaping.

I still say that if my coworkers can come in dowsed in Red Door perfume or Nautica after-shave, or they can spray Lysol spray in the bathroom so thick that you CANNOT BREATHE, by god I can hit my 12 WATT vape 4 times a day at my damn desk. If I have to hold the vapor in until it disappears, then I guess that's what I'll do.

incidentally, Lakeland, where Lucy's quoted article is from, is only about 40 miles from Tampa. Used to live down there when I was a kid.
