My mod needs a slight fix but unfortunately the allen screws are stripped. Everything I found online is for big hex bolts and not the smaller ones. How do I remove these without using a hammer or something that invasive?

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.. Can you post a pic of it maybe?

The screws in the ipv4. I want to fix the button. But in order to get to them there are the 2 allen screws in there that need to be taken out. Unfortunately the manufacturer's stripped the bolts. I need a way to get them out.

Copy that... I just looked at those Allen screws in my ipv4 and it looks like you might be able to drill it and use a small EZ Out. But that's good only if the Allen wrench slips in the head. if the threads are stripped in the mod itself I'd send it in for repair. just my 2 cents and good luck!

Get a dremel or a small small drill bit and slowly drill directly into the head of the stripped screw until it literally comes off. Youll want to push the bit into the chuck of the drill as far into it as you can, so you dont have a bunch of overhang (if that makes sense) Then, once you get the plate or whatever its being secured by this screw off, you'll be left with a litle nub, that you can twist out with needle nose pliers

You need to keep everything very sable when doing this, Ive duct taped a mod to the table before once or even had my roommate help with an extra set of hands. Also I would use masking tape around the screw hole to keep from scratching anything.

I was trying to avoid anything that invasive, but I guess I don't have much of a choice lol.

Id be willing to bet you ONE Jr Bacon Cheeseburger, that you spend more time wrapping a coil then you would drilling the head of that screw out.

I wish you best of luck, be sure you post up your results.

It may ruin being covered for repairs if you do that, I'd send it back for repair or replacement if it were mine.

You really don't want to send it back? Seems like problem on top of problem that you shouldn't have to deal with.

Unfortunately the company I am dealing with has the worst correspondence ever and their phone number is a Google number. I'm talking about vapenw. I have sent them numerous emails and have tried calling them often with no avail. So basically I'm on my own on this one.

Me thinks that a stripped out screw would kind of be an indication that he was going to be digging into anyways, that shows intent and therefore, would void his warranty in the first place.

I understand you said it was stripped before, but youll probably have a hard time explaining that to the sale reps...

Right exactly. Unfortunately it's here say and would probably void a return and switch out

But the original button issue remains and they can't say you caused that. I'd wait for a vendor response before I did anything. They may end up standing tall on your issues.

Facebook is always a great place to get ahold of someone in a circumstance like this...

Yes they can. At one point, apple started installing special screws into peoples Iphones, as a way to avoid any tampering, if they were stripped or showed any kind of foul play, they wouldn't even look at the phone. BAM warranty void.

The button issue on these batts can be fixed, but it involves dissecting the tiny button itself. Which isnt what I would call an easy task.

If you aren't wanting to drill out a simple screw, I can assure you that the button is a MUCH MUCH more advanced repair.

I believe the opening post talking about the button on the ipv4. Your pic looks like the small button on the IPV 3 as the button on my ipv4 is a lot bigger... IPV4 on the left for comparison

The button issue I'm referring to involves just some foam strips inside the case beside the button. Nothing too onvolved.

My apologies, I got a case of 'dumbass' and was confused on the box.

That photo is an actual button from another box, desoldered from the logic board and disassembled...
