"All in the Family" felt bigger than, perhaps, it actually was given that the stakes are fairly high this season. The entire universe is on the line and God's come out of the woodwork to officially help deal with his nihilist, nothing-worshipping sister. Plus, Metatron got in the game, Cas-ifer got sprung, and there's a new prophet in the form of Professor Donatello Redfield (Keith Szarabajka).
Even given all that though, this was a "circle the wagons" chapter. The boys took in all that was "Chuck," bunked with him for a while (while Chuck wore Dean's robe and marveled at the staggering amount of porn on his laptop), and then headed out to rescue Lucifer. Sure, this one had some action, but it was mostly about the brothers coming to terms with God - and God's flaws. And, perhaps, God's flawed plan to sacrifice himself to Amara.
