Okay, so maybe the reveal that Chuck is God wasn't the biggest surprise in the world, as it's been one of the prevailing fan theories for years now, but "Don't Call Me Shirley" wound up being a funny, insightful, and emotional journey - particularly the collaborative/combative moments between Chuck and Metatron.
The Sam and Dean side story was okay, though it does get a few extra points for being, essentially, a giant dead end. I mean, the boys were done in here. Amara invaded a small town and they were powerless to stop her. Sam got cooked and Dean, as the Darkness' prized pet, found himself forced to watch everyone fall around him. The show then literally had to pull a "deus ex machina" in the end in order to save them.
