Sx mini q class tc help

So I just picked up the sx mini q class and so far love it, but my issue is where I'm at the temperature outside started to drop to the 40s. Well when I'm in the house the temp control is great when I set it to the right ambient temperature in the house but outside it's hard to keep changing the temp. Now I'm using some ss316l fused claptons and wondering if them gunning up is the issue. The device just doesn't seem consistent in tc when going from inside to outside. Any advice would be helpful. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info out there compared to the dna200.

That is SUPER interesting. I am sorry, I have DNA's and have not yet noticed this phenomenon (but it MAY happen to DNA's too?) so I can't be much help, especially on the SX, but I hope you get it sorted. Lots of metal between the chip and the coil that does have SOME small resistance (as does SS, small!) so it is entirely possible that the cold steel of your tank or rda is throwing things off. I hope you learn why, and come back to explain!

Sorry I cannot help with the SX Mini, but you seem like a bright guy, and will figure it out and hopefully share..

So, lets say it is 30° colder outside than in, do you have to bump the temp 30° to get the same experience?

On my 350j chip, there is a compensator for outside temp, its probably in the q class too. When you lock resistance there is a second screen before you get back to the main screen. That is the temperature compensate screen, it's only in Celsius so you may have to look up your Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion one time.

You tell the mod what the ambient temp is and it compensates for you. I guess the pain in the ass will be having to change it when you go back inside so you may end up having an indoor and an outdoor mod during the cold months of the year.

Yeah. I love the device at least inside the house. Lately the tc has been a pain with ss316l fused claptons. Basically what I'm realizing is that I set it to one temp and ambient temp inside and another temp and ambient temp outside. I have to make my tc warmer outside to get the same vape. I am waiting on an email back from yihi in the subject

it sounds like the device itself is bad. the outside temp should have no bearing since the mod calculates temp based on resistance. the only thing the outside temp might effect is ramp up time as if your coils are much colder then room temp they will take a little longer to heat up, but it should be insignificant.

That would be the case with the dna200 it calculates the outside temp automatically. But the sx450j chip allows you to enter it your self. Also the dna200 allows you to put the points in by tcr by temp in escribe. The sx450j on the other hand to be perfectly accurate you put in the tcr then also tell it the temperature compensate.

Yeah, I think you will have to fiddle with it either way, ambient temp compensation or changing the vape temp, either way sounds like you're changing one of the two.

A separate mod for indoors or outdoors may be in your future ;)

lol yeah I started to take my vt200 out doors and the q class indoors. Hopefully yihi will be of some help. I really want to try a build with ni200. A few of my local b&m shops suggested that it might just be the the ss316l coils being temperamental. If I try it out tomorrow and fixes the issue I'll post back.

Also you can try removing the outer wrap on your clapton where it goes into the post holes so the screws pinch directly down on the core wires.

That can help if a mod is not running TC very well, cleans up the signal I would guess.

I'm not a fan of nickel wire, thin and lacking flavor imo. 430ss is my favorite wire to build with for TC

Thanks for the help I'll try that definitely. Yeah I don't like nickel either.

i agree with staying away from ni200 wire. SS is overall the best right now. If Nife becomes more widely available I'd take that. It's like SS but even better for temp control.

If you want to try out a mod with really good temp control thats easier to set up. G2s are on sale for 45 bucks right now on vaporcube.com

Funny you mentioned that I just ordered the g2 from them. Only had the red le version left. Do you know anything about the company I ordered it and emailed them about finding out how long to receive the product when I paid for two day shipping. I'm not sure where they send it from and still haven't gotten a response. But I have been wanting a hohm tech product for a while. I wanted to check out all the different high end chips. I got the dna200, sc450j and now I'll have the fsk. So I'm assuming you like the hohm wrecker

they ship from California in the LA area. I ordered from vaporcube on black Friday and it's out for delivery for me today but i live in san diego so like a 2 hour drive away. this is my first order with them, but many people have ordered from them before here. they are legit with good shipping.
I love the hohm wrecker and the slice. my skillet is arriving today. I'm gonna see if it's a good stealth mod. I also have a VT133 (DNA200 board) and i ordered a Finder 167 (dna250 board) on black friday so should have it in 2-3 weeks hopefully. (coming from china) So far to me though the G2 has the best temp control and customization. but DNA are great too. I made this video showing the versatility of hohmtech mods

Great video thanks. I'm hoping I can get a slice for as cheap as you did. I need a new single battery mod for out and about.

I'm in Florida and when I go from inside to outside I need to adjust my FSK curve between .1 and .3 up or down, only takes a second but it is definitely noticeable if I dont.

So it seems that all the good tc mods need it done except the dna

IDK i live in san diego so the weather is never too extreme (except hot lol) but I've never had to adjust any mod for temp control based on ambient temp

Are you using tc with Kanthal or nichrome? If I'm in XXX with Kanthal or nichrome I need to adjust for ambient, Hohm tech says it is to be expected because of the sensitivity of the wire and is unavoidable. SS, titanium, nickel don't act the same

I need to go to a place like that. Living in philadelphia we get all four seasons and sometimes a fifth season with craziness you know the day of and after thanksgiving. Lol

i never used nichrome, or TI wire. I don't use Ni200 wire naymore cause it's crap. I tried it a few times and it sucks IMO
i have used kenthal, SS430, SS316 in the preset mode with no issues
I've used Nife30 Nife52 and a 3 mix (nife30, SS430, and kenthal twisted) in XXX mode with no issues
I've never had to adjust for ambient temp.

LOL. Every time I was in San Diego it was beautiful (70's F). If you think SD is hot, you would die in the Phoenix area in the summer. It was 116F in Mesa and we drove to SD, it was in the 70's. I couldn't believe how nice it was. A lot of people in the Valley of the Sun go to SD to get out of the heat.

arizona is worse for sure. I go out there a few times a year to martinez to hit the river.

When I want to vape with tc my q mini didn't read the coil.. Resistance 0.00 always! And never fires. If I change to power mode it reads the same coil!!!
Any idea?

You need to lock the resistance in 1st. I have the G Class and it's holding the joystick down to do so. Check the manual on how to lock resistance for the one u have
