A Texas drainage district says it discovered an unrecognized pipe discharging dark wastewater from Tesla’s Robstown lithium refinery into a ditch it manages. State regulators found no permit violation in their initial review, but an independent sample commissioned by the district reportedly detected elevated metals, including lithium, plus other industrial pollutants.
