I keep hearing about upcoming FDA regulations but haven't spent a ton of time researching it. I read about AEMSA and AEMSA membership. I saw one vendor quit making "add a shot" and custom flavorings as preparation for the upcoming regulations.
I have a friend who is an entrepreneur and it always asking me for business ideas. I personally purchased 1.1L of nicotine after I saw Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller saying they were going to start regulating the sale of ecigs to minors (aren't there already laws against this?), regulating vape shops, and I have heard of other bans on flavors (because kids are the only ones that like candy, drinks, and desserts...). I also saw the movie Dallas Buyer's Club in the past few months and liked how he fought to get the drugs he wanted to cure aids before everyone with AIDS died because of research.
I personally haven't done enough research on the subject to know how safe ejuice is, but with my first DIY purchase I did try to buy DIKETONE free flavorings. I see how a lot of people try to buy VG only so I am guessing they either have allergies to PG or they think VG is better for them since it is naturally derived and not a petroleum product.
With all of this uncertainty flying around in my head, and knowing 1st hand two family members who haven't smoked since April, and being a month free myself, and my pushing to get the remaining smokers I know to switch, I started thinking WHAT COULD HAPPEN? And WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT?
I read some people saying 'don't start an ejuice business, save your money, wait for the regulations to come out'. I see others saying Big Tobacco is going to corner they market with their inferior products (trust me I know, I tried smoking 3 mark-tens at once 12 and 6 months ago and it just sucked. And they are doing this to keep their bread and butter product going.
Will the prices skyrocket? Will small ejuice vendors go out of business? Will Nictotine be banned leaving us DIY folks dependent on a) inferior product and b) unsure the ingredients that go in them.
My question to the DIY folks, and to the vaping public at large are these:
Are there any juices out there that are worth $8000 to get tested yet the companies are on a tight enough margin that they will go under?
Is there any way to keep Nicotine in bulk available to DIYers?
Is there any DIY Buyer's clubs that could pitch in and get their Nicotine only approved as a flavor and then boost the PG/VG and flavorings themselves?
What other concerns do people have? I feel saved by vaping, and do have some friends with money who can potentially help if the ideas are sound.
