The '90s were certainly a unique time for superhero comics, and Marvel is celebrating that era with a new wave of early '90s-inspired variant covers. These "Marvel '92 Variants" will celebrate the bulging muscles, colorfully outlandish costumes and other excesses that defined this period.
So far Marvel has revealed six of the 24 covers included in the promotion. You can check them out below:
This promotion is inspired by the success of X-Men '92, a digital-first series that features a team of X-Men heavily influenced by the early '90s comics and X-Men: The Animated Series. “The X-Men aren’t the only ones getting in on the ‘92 action,” said Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel in the company's press release. “Witnessing that memorable era of comics brought to life again got us thinking about all the fun incarnations of Marvel’s most popular characters. Before we knew it we had a huge list of 1990s characters ready to make their 2015 debut!”
