Josh Gad was thrilled when he found out he was getting his X-Men moment in The Angry Birds Movie.
In a funny scene from the animated flick, which can be viewed below, Gad's character Chuck remembers why he was sent to anger management class. And yes, it very intentionally is an homage to Quicksilver's breakout scene in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
"It was so funny to me, and it was such a brilliant," Gad told IGN. "When they first pitched that sequence to me, I was on the floor. I was like, 'Yes, of course. Of course! You must.'"
While the Quicksilver nod might go over some audience members' heads, Gad thinks that's part of what makes the film work. "What the movie does so well is, creatively, it works for kids and it works on that level, but it's also moments like that that are so great for adults, where it's just such an unexpected gem of a moment," he said.
