This was the last episode of The Big Bang Theory before next week's season finale, but there was little sign that anything major is brewing during the events of "The Line Substitution Solution." This was very much a case of "been there, done that," what with Sheldon's self-centered behavior annoying Amy and Leonard and Penny dealing with the abrasive Beverly Hofstadter. Predictably, that resulted in one of the weaker episodes of the season.
"The Line Substitution Solution" started out well enough, with Sheldon and Penny helping each other study up on their more problematic areas of knowledge. For Penny, that involved middle school-level math and science concepts. For Sheldon, it was recognizing celebrities on sight. Personally, if Sheldon is fortunate enough to not know what a Kardashian is, I'd argue it's better to preserve his innocence. But I'll admit that his system for remembering which one is which was pretty spot-on.
