ELR saves your stash as you add flavors to it. Don't know that there's any way to have more than one stash, though.
THANKS ever so much...
LOOKING AT THAT
and thought I have a Lot of flavors to enter..
an me no type so good... soooooooooo
getting it right once would be a mirical in an of itself.
and to have to do that EVERY TIME YICKES

YET to enter a little bit each day would be doable.
yet ONLY work if you can save...

and multi cuz
Example: sometime you feel like a NUT some time you don't..
so a way to CUT DOWN some on how long the list can get to be..
just so ya don't have to go threw all da NUTS again..

Wouldn't be worth much to people like @wildgypsy70 if she had to enter flavors every time. It would take her all day and then some!

But yeah, most of the info is stored on ELR. You just have to start entering the name of a flavor, then a drop-down list of flavors that start with the string you keyed will show up. You just move down and pick the right manufacturer, then click "Save" and that's it. Easy peasy!

Later, after you've added the flavors, you can click on each new flavor name in your stash list, and that will take you to a screen where you can save the bottle size and cost, which helps calculate the cost of your finished mix. In "Settings" under "User" you can also specify the cost of nicotine and bases, which of course has to be done if you want accurate mix costs.

In my opinion, it's easier and a lot less risky to just allow for a few missing flavors when you do the "What Can I Make" search.

When you sub one flavor for another, you still have to be aware of the differences in the flavors. Bavarian Creams might be pretty much interchangeable, but still, one might have more or less butter, might be sweeter or not as sweet, might have stronger or weaker vanilla or other obvious flavor notes, so you still need to know what else the recipe might need. If nothing else, mix it, taste it on the back of your hand, and adjust from there.

It is a mistake to assume that every strawberry will work in place of every other strawberry, or every lemon or whatever, with no other adjustments to the recipe. Between different flavor manufacturers, the one most reliable thing is that the percentages needed will NOT be the same. You'll come closer if you're subbing TFA for FW or equivalent, but FA, Flv, Inw, and even Cap are almost always going to be different from TFA or FW. Even as "reliable" as that statement may be under most circumstances, I screwed up a bottle of juice by using FW Wintergreen at the same percentage I had been using TFA Wintergreen, and when I adjusted it down, I still didn't adjust it enough.

Just my two cents. YMMV.
Spot on advice.

Yes, do not use nickel in a non temp control mod. Nickel is not supposed to be heated to the point of glowing. Not many people use nickel anymore. It was designed for use with tc and tc only. It is safe to use in tc mode 100%, but I wouldn't chance it otherwise.
I don’t like the idea of nickel period. It’s toxic, afaik. I like stainless or kanthal. But I don’t use TC only Power mode.

I wouldn’t be mixing much if I had to manually enter every flavor every damn time! ELR makes it soooooo easy. The hardest part is the first entering of flavors, if you have a lot. After that, it’s only maintenance.

More like a whole bunch of good advice! Subs can work, but ONLY if you know your flavors. Which means single flavor testing. Sigh.......but, if you’re going to do flavor development, it’s essential.

That's actually what I tried. My son has the flavors, but Idk the brands he has. So I created an account there and listed the flavors in my stash. With 24 flavors listed, only one result popped up (which only had the generic flavors listed in the recipe).
Huh. Gonna be tough without the flavor house name. I wish I had an answer for you!

did you use the “what can I make” option? Or on the general forum?

I just mixed some LB Peppermint at 6% in a short fill. Wow, it tastes yummy. With a cold now, I’m so glad that I got some minty flavors.

I like sweet mints, not menthol so much though. Yay.
I know i just was talking about this flavor here or somewhere recently but FW Candycane is a totally non-mentholated and very sweet mint that tastes exactly like a candy cane.

Your two cents is valuable here. I read @laurie9300 's post about adding flavors to a stash and didn't really consider it from a beginner's pov. After a while, as you implied, one gets to know from experience/reading how to attempt to substitute flavors. But even with experience, you never really quite know what you're going to get if you're not familiar w/ a particular flavor.

You can create two accounts and then have two of everything. I have been thinking of doing this, as my "shopping list" on ELR is getting so out of control, I need to prioritize. My second account would be for flavors I want--but don't desperately want. More like a wish list.

I agree, and I also took for granted the years of experience it took to learn how to sub effectively.

But I was inclined to try subbing from the beginning, with limited flavours I had to be. Google helps a lot with comparing flavour notes, and elr's median % and a bit of math usually gets you close enough for something good to vape.

It's potentially an even better way to learn than sfts?

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between CAP French Vanilla V1 and V2 is?
I asked cortana {{ me PC silly}}
and she says......
v2 has no diketones... Whereas the V1 have diacetyl, the bad AP or other questionables. As far as the flavor, I can't stand the V2s, especially the ones containing Butyric acid (however its spelled) It tastes like vomit to me... The only one I've liked is Capella's Graham Cracker v2.. That one is good.

Thank you for the info!

My first ever batches were recently made and are steeping, I wasn't going for vomit flavor so fingers crossed, lol.

I have the V1 and V2, wasn't sure which is better. I have noticed that quite a few desert flavors contain acetoin or other warning ingredients. Not too sure how to feel about that.

Wow, thanks for reminding me! I saw it online, maybe BCF? And I forgot to get it! It was a one shot, I think. I wanted that one, too.

I added 5% LB White Chocolate Peppermint to my Peppermint mix. I’m steeping it now. Artemis suggested the WCP.
I love sweet mint, but not menthol so much. Thanks!

Some people are less sensitive to that "vomit" flavor of butyric acid or don't sense it at all. The only way to know is to try it out yourself.

re diketones: I was conflicted for a long time about this, too.. as many vapers have been. Yes, in my opinion, it's probably "safer" to avoid anything with acetoin, acetyl propionyl or diacetyl (DAAP) ingredients, but how much safer is quite debatable. It's safer to live in the country than to breathe bus exhaust, etc., every day in the city. Point is, it's very much a personal choice and one you will probably want to research yourself to feel good about.

PS: Congrats on making your first mixes!

If you decide to get flavor west candy cane, it sounds like you would really enjoy it. Pretty sure bull city has it. But your white chocolate peppermint mix sounds awesome. It's hard to see how you could go wrong on flavor with that.

I’ve never mixed or vaped a chocolate flavor, but I’m sure I’ll love it. How long of a steep do you think it will need? Thanks.

White chocolate isn't really chocolate. i guess you never got those disappointing white chocolate bunnies at eastertime like I did... lol. It's more like a creamy candy flavor with (possibly--a little help here?) a hint of vanilla? It's been a long time since I've used it in anything.

And i don't mean to disparage the flavor with my bunny comment, BTW--it's just definitely not chocolate :)

ps: i'd give it a week

Eww, yes I had one of those bunnies. Yuch. But I also have had some really nice Lindor White Chocolate and some other European white chocolate.

Oh, so this WCP will be creamy mint? Good, I had VR mix me a Peppermint Cream which was nice. One of the first juices I bought when I restarted vaping was a Peppermint Cream. I hope what I mixed comes close.
Thanks! PS: Did you get the coil prob worked out? I may be going through the same thing!

Creamy mint, yes. Yummy.

Thanks for asking and yes, kind of: I've found one place i already mentioned willing (at least as far as i can tell) to ship to me. Maybe it's dumb, but I'm a little hesitant to mention the name again and wonder if I should've initially. If you are in one of the banned states or for whatever reason are having trouble getting supplies, please feel free to message me & we can share info.

If anyone is feeling energetic and civic-minded, please consider this CASAA request and drop a quick line to urge a veto of the upcoming further bans in Massachusetts:

here is a bit more info from the page:

H.4196 (formerly known as H 4183), which bans the sale of flavored vapor products and, among other things, enacts a 75% wholesale tax on any vapor products that are left, was passed by the Senate last night. This bill is on its way to Governor Baker’s desk for his signature.

Take Action - Tell Gov. Baker to VETO H.4196!

At the same time, a hearing is scheduled by the Department of Public Health regarding regulations needed to enforce Governor Baker's existing ban on sales of any vapor product in Massachusetts. The legislation that was passed on Thursday morning does not take effect until June 2020. Stopping the Dept. of Health regulation would give retailers time to sell through their remaining products AND give all of use more time to mount a more effective resistance, possibly by introducing legislation to repeal the new law enacted by H.4196.

And for anyone interested who is going to be in Boston tomorrow:

The public hearing is scheduled for

Friday, November 22, 2019
10:30 AM
Public Health Council Room, Second Floor
Department of Public Health
250 Washington St.
Boston, MA

Have you heard anything about vape mail being affected? I was waiting for coils to come and they didn’t get to me since I was supposed to sign for the package. :wth: Bans in NY were halted for now, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Mostly what I know is just that any sales--of vape juice and any vape related product--in MASS (and several other states) have been temporarily banned. Please check out http://www.casaa.org/ and look up NY for specifics for what's happening with the relevant laws in your state.

I believe there is also a forum for NY vapers here on VU if you check. There is one for my state, but it's not getting much action at the moment.

I did! I added it to my short fill of plain LB Peppermint. It said 12% but I did 5% since it was being added to Peppermint. I can always up it, if it tastes weak.

I’m really loving mixing! I’m just not thrilled about the coil building in my future. But mixing is so fun and cool. So glad that I started doing it.

Today I mixed up a 60ML of American Gold Tobacco and was looking at the Dark Cherry when I thought I will make it more towards an RY4 Tobacco and threw in some Fresh Cream. No recipe or calculating just a sperm of the moment Mood Mix. Smells lovely. Will let you know later after some hot water speed infusion.

I went to CASAA and NY is trying to slip through a flavor ban. I don’t need juice per se, but really it’s going to make getting all gear difficult afaik. :grumble:
