Following a tremendously well received first season, The Flash is back on Tuesday for Season 2. Per usual for this series, a key element is that things move fast, both where the main character is concerned and in plotting, and Season 2 will be introducing a ton of new elements from the comic books.
I sat down with The Flash’s showrunner, executive producer Gabrielle Stanton, to talk about what’s to come in Season 2, including Jay Garrick, Zoom, Wally West, Earth 2 and more.
IGN: You’re bringing in Jay Garrick. How will Barry react to someone who is a counterpart in such a way?
Gabrielle Stanton: We definitely have a spin on him. He’s going to be, kind of in that classic Jay Garrick way, a little bit older. He’s a little bit more of the Flash that you expected from the comic book. Our Barry is a young Barry, a little bit geekier. He’s going to kind of play mentor a little bit to Barry this season. He’s going to have seen a little bit more, done a little bit more and as Barry is understanding his powers and what he can do, Jay’s going to be there to mentor him and teach him the next steps toward becoming an even better Flash.
