That is an ottoman. :) I would guess that one is around vintage 1972. LOL!

The boys beat me to it, but I knew what they were, too. I used to sit in the bathroom when I was little and watch my dad shaving, then slapping on a bit of Old Spice. :)

Lost in space.
60 years ago today the first episode aired on September 15, 1965.

That was my favorite show back in the day. I remember when September meant new shows on TV (and back-to-school, ugh), but the new shows on TV were always really great! Lost in Space, My Favorite Martian, It's All About Time (I think that was the name), and several others which I can't recall right now. I always really looked forward to the new shows. Not so anymore.

That looks like an old one, but it's by no means an outdated concept. It's an ottoman or a hassock. IMO it's the most valuable piece in the living room of an apartment because it can be a foot rest, a seat or a small table.

I have two sets of these vintage stacking ones like my uncle had. We often put a snack tray on top so it's within everybody's reach.

Thank God, I did not. However, now, with all these 19 cats and 1 very muddy and rambunctious dog, they would certainly come in handy. Totally uncomfortable, but handy. ;)

I don't remember if that thing had a name, either, but my brother had one. I played around with it once in a while.

Anyone here old enough to know what this is

It IS a pen and pencil box, and I used to have one very similar. I'm not actually THAT old, but one of my grandmas had one, very old, that she gave me. I don't know whatever happened to it... I was so careless when I was a kid.

but in those days jimi, we humans that had not been taught by computers on how to do everything, we could think, so we did not need smart features!! same as we did not need computors to make sure we could use a watch!..we just wound it up! and believe it or not we actually had to change gears on our cars!! and get this, we even knew what size clothes to buy so we never had to keep pulling them up, and we knew peaks on hats go on the front!!! i supose the main ting we knew was if you were born with a pole or a hole, you knew what you were!

Those were the good old days of human intelligence.

Exactly! Case in point. We've had three refrigerators in our kitchen in the 21 years we've lived here. The appliance guys say that's a good run for each one. In every case, the fridge died and was not repairable, so we had to replace it.

On the other hand, the fridge we brought with us when we moved here is still running perfectly. And the used fridge we bought shortly after we moved here to keep eggs in has only broken down once, just this past week, in fact. They guys came out with a new fridge, just in case, but luckily, it was just a disconnected wire in the freezer compartment that runs the circulating fan. They spliced it back together and now it's running perfectly. Easy fix. Keeps on running. And running. (But not the "new" fridges we had in the kitchen...)

Oh, I remember these so well! Every day in the summer we went berry-picking, and Mom would freeze a can of pop for each of us and wrap them in foil to put in our lunch bags. It was so nice having a cold pop at lunch break. :)
