Did you know a common myth suggests that sunscreen blocks your body’s ability to produce Vitamin D? Many believe that sunscreen might compromise their health, but let’s uncover the truth.

The Real Deal on Vitamin D and Sun Protection

Despite popular belief, skipping sunscreen to boost Vitamin D is counterproductive. The products with synthetic ingredients have given sun protection a bad rap.

Here is a reorganized list of the ingredients, expressed in a way that highlights concerns about their safety in sunscreen products:

  • Oxybenzone - Often flagged for potential hormonal disruptions and coral reef damage.
  • Octinoxate - Linked to coral bleaching and possible hormonal effects.
  • Homosalate - Suspected of disrupting estrogen, androgen, and progesterone.
  • Octocrylene - Associated with high rates of skin allergies and may affect aquatic life.
  • Avobenzone - Known for degrading in the sun and releasing free radicals.
  • Octisalate - Used to stabilize avobenzone, but concerns persist about its environmental effects.
  • Padimate O - Suspected to release free radicals upon exposure to sunlight.
  • Cinoxate - Less common, but concerns about UV absorption and skin penetration remain.
  • Dioxybenzone - Potential for high skin absorption raises concerns about systemic effects.
  • Ensulizole - Can produce free radicals under UV exposure and may have mild estrogenic effects.
  • Sulisobenzone - Known for its ability to cause skin irritation and potential for deeper skin penetration.

This is Sami. She and her puppies, along with 200 other dogs, were rescued from a dog meat farm. Forced to breed to supply the industry, this was the only life she knew, until animal lovers like you stepped in to help rescue her.

Because of your compassion, she’s living the life she always deserved.
More than anything, Sami loves walks and cuddles with her feline friend. We’re thrilled to share that her puppies, Buster and Plumbly, also got adopted into loving families.
Buster and Plumbly

We can’t thank you enough for making lifesaving work like this possible. Watch Sami’s heartwarming story here.
