Amazon is having another 'Buy 2, save 50% on 1' sale this week and there's a lot of great books included. These types of Amazon promotions are generally one of the best times of the year to buy books at a discount, especially if you're looking to buy the more expensive collector's editions. So if you're in the market for good Lord of the Rings gift right now, I'd highly recommend checking out this sale for the Tolkien illustrated editions alone.
Lord of the Rings Illustrated Sale At Amazon Today
Not all of the Lord of the Rings illustrated editions are included in this sale. Most notably, the more expensive deluxe editions are absent alongside both of The Hobbit illustrated books. With that being said, you will have the option to choose between the Tolkien Illustrated editions or the Alan Lee illustrated editions.
The Tolkien illustrated edition features drawings, maps, and other tidbits from the legendary fantasy author himself all wrapped up in a single tome of collected works. While the Alan Lee versions feature gorgeous fully-illustrated pages and covers across The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
I'd say the overall better deal between the two is the Tolkien illustrated edition. It's quite a bit less expensive than the Alan Lee box set and you can pair it with the matching Silmarillion to get that extra 50% off. So with this deal you could get The Lord of the Rings Illustrated and The Silmarillion for only $68.77, which is less than the price of that single box set.
And for those who already have one of the illustrated editions, a similarly affordable pairing is the Silmarillion Collector's Edition and The Hobbit Graphic Novel. With the promotion going on now you can get both of those books for only $26.55. Both of these are great additions to any Lord of the Rings collection.
More Popular Books Included in the Sale
Amazon's buy one, get 1 half off sale includes a lot more than just Lord of the Rings books. Some of the most popular romantasy books like Fourth Wing and ACOTAR are part of the sale, which could potentially make great Mother's Day gifts. And for LitRPG fans, the Dungeon Crawler Carl hardcovers are discounted here as well. As for other popular fiction, Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary and Susan Collins' Sunrise on the Reaping Hunger Games prequel are both part of the sale.
