How ya gonna say you should know something by now that you haven't much need for til now? You'll learn it.

Try THIS. Well worth the three bucks or whatever I paid for it. Super helpful. The author is a member here too.

Took me a while on Steam-engine but it's pretty useful once you bust the learning curve by just playing with it. Use the "Coil wrapping" tab for single wire coils and the "Wire wizard" for claptons, etc. Here's a pretty good video on using it

Edit: I'd be glad to do a remote viewing session with you and walk you through some scenarios if you're interested.

I tried a bunch of different apps for wrapping, never reall got the hang of them either. Found best for me, until I got the hang of the differnt wires I use, just go an extra wrap or two of what I thought, lightly tighten post screws, and check on ohm reader. If need be pull one wrap out, check, if need be pull two wraps out. If you go too low and don't have leg room left, you wasted em. High is always alright. Probably not the best/most recommended way, but I thought it was easier than trying to use apps and such... At least with the wire I use it's always at least 4, never more than 8. Not too hard to "guess" close to start.

this, right here, is where i was going wrong. i was trying the wizard. "coil wrapping", i just played with it, that is easy as, well, you.
that vid helped a lot.
i will make a test coil and see how i do with it.

thanx :)
Good, it's pretty straight forward. I like it better than any phone apps, not that they're bad apps but I'm any time I'm working with wire I'm in front of my PC and it's just a bigger screen and easier for me. YMMV.

As far as the Wire Wizard, it's pretty cool. Select Clapton under Wire Builder on the left side, then select parallel under the Core section. Be aware you can add a 3rd (or more) core wire by clicking on the little plus icon under the core wires. Change your materials and gauges, adjust the wraps and diameter, and you've got all the info on a clapton (or alien, etc.) and can play with diameter, wraps etc. to adjust your outcome.

Keep at it, you'll get it.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Is there such a thing? Or can you model it in Steam-Engine? No experience on the former question, and yes you can model it in Steam-Engine. You can select either Clapton or twisted in the Wire Builder drop down, and the same in the Core builder. It will let you define the number of twisted wires and twist.

I've never used anything but the Clapton with parallel cores. I'd offer again to do a screen share session with you and take you through it.

Heat capacity (each coil), i'm in the red, is that bad or good ?

"such a thing", 2 wires twisted, then wrapped in a thinner wire = twisted clapton ?

Quoting from Steam-Engine lower down that page:
Heat capacity
The higher the heat capacity, the slower your coil will be to heat up (and to cool down).
Never tried a twisted clapton. No reason it won't work, just not familiar with it. Sounds like you're making progress.

Twisted Claptons are cool. Pretty good vape. Just watch the mass of the coil compared to how low the ohms are. Right now I have a 3 core alien that's . 28.. On an 18650 it takes to long to heat. So gonna drop it to. 2ish range for better ramp

Why do you like twisted claptons? How do they differ in performance from a parallel clapton?

easy'er to make. & hell if i know , lol

here is my first "trying to look like i know what i'm doing" coils. n80, 26g, 3mm 6turns. .16 .the goal was for the pair. 1 came to .32 = dead on. the other .38...... the pair, this mod .20, DNA mod .21, coilmaster 521 mini v2 .31
i'm going to try em.
