They made me curious why he offed himself.

OK,
They have been very mute about it, but after Kennedy vapors, my favorite brand, and the one i had most mods from, was vapemp (Vape American Products), had close to 20 of their rig mods at some point + lots of RDAs and accesories.
Take ALL OF THIS as speculation, it's what i gather from reading bits from here and there
Their main product was always the Rig Mod series, v1, v2, v3, rig pig, rig pig v2, descendant and outlaw.
The founder, James, when he started, had to sell his house and move to a trailer with his wife and pregnant wife to be able to have money and put together their first mod, The OG Rig Mod V1 / Roughneck RDA. Which became highly celebrated and one of the OG American made mech mods worth calling 'competition mods'
He recouped his invested money, then some, and allowed him to move his lifestyle back to where he was (or better) before starting.
P.D.: seems the other american brand that became prominent after his and that posed a thread to his sales, was Kennedy Vapors, where supposedly he helped Steve Kennedy with the first RDA, then hated the bejesus out of him after.
Then came the Rig v2, which i believe in 2014 or 2015 had showed as the mod most used by those that won 'cloud comps' and such (never was part or one of these, just telling what i know)
In 2016 or 2017, a rig v2 exploded in someone's face in florida. It seems someone was using a RDA without a protruding-enough positive pin RDA on it (hybrid mod that had a hybrid disc on top, unlike the v1)

my understanding Vapeamp was found guilty (at least of not stating sufficiently and clearly enough that such danger was present) ad was liable for a lot of money.
James was said to have had mental problems to begin with. This, compounded with the fact he was about to lose everything he had (or a significant portion of it), led to his passing away (known know to be a suicide) last year
He left a wife and daughters in a lot of financial burden, vapeamp still liable, and a lot of pressure on the people still at the company to move forward.
They have been working hard during the past year to reoganize the company, leading to the release of the Legacy mod. Not his design but the people still at the company.
AFAIK, only five 'American Made' companies ever machined the mods themselves (versus sending the design to an american shop and then selling it back and calling it american mad) that were RELEVANT, Super-T manufacturing, Vapeamp, Kennedy Vapor, Rogue mods and Purge mods.
I MAY BE VERY WRONG ABOUT THAT LAST PARAGRAPH, BUT TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE EVERYONE ELSE 'AMERICAN MADE' HAD AT LEAST PARTS MADE ELSEWHERE IN THE USA.
back to the legacy, there are two versions of that mod, the special edition 'James' mod, with that engraving of his face and message "You cant be a pussy your whole life" in the body, NOT TO MY
PERSONAL TASTE at all. And the one i purposely bought without that (again, to me) distasteful thing (1000% personal thing i reckon)
The mod IS great, best i have had from
FML The Rig Mod. If i had to sell al the vapeamp / rigmods i have i would keep the legacy, one outlaw and the pig v2
Vapeamp.com is closed, the people left behind putting together FML The Rig Mod (
www.therigmod.com), FML standing for Fuck My Life according to rumors, after the hard past year everyone has had there to come back to its former glory, opened it and has been / still is under re-structuring with the store up and down at times to this day.
It's the LITTLE AND VERY-LITTLE PUT TOGETHER i know about the brand and what happened, there is little info and a lot of rumors here and there, may be 1000% wrong so dont come blaming me for half/full untruths.
