The quality of any given episode of The Strain is inversely proportional to how much time the show wastes on inane, pointless subplots. That's basically why "Invaders" is the new high water mark for Season 2. This episode was more focused than most, offered a nice blend of horror and character development and even reacquainted viewers with some characters that have too often been ignored over the past couple months.
Eichorst finally returned in a big way this week and pretty much stole the show in the process. The opening scene was strangely fascinating, offering insight into the complex process required to make a strigoi appear human. Both Richard Sammel and Natalie Brown impressed in this sequence, with the former playing Eichorst as his usual slimy but charming self and the latter conveying Kelly's struggle to regain control of her mind and relearn how to affect human mannerisms.
