The Twisted Coil

I've been really interested in building a twisted coil but I'm not 100% sure what it does. Does wrapping two strands of kanthal make it a bigger gauge? What if I use three or four strands to wrap one? I'm just confused.

All I use are twisted builds granted flavor is subjective I personally feel that I get a better flavor out of twisted builds. I don't know enough about it to personally gauge what your build would be at but I use 28g kanthal or 26g nichrome n80 for my builds when twisting. I wrap mine around a 2.1-2.2mm screwdriver about 7 wraps and it gives me a nice solid flavorful vape

Edit: 28g kanthal puts me at about 3.4ohm on my build and nichrome 26g right around the same

Agreed on what has been mentioned already, just adding my $0.02. By twisting 2-3 strands, you do create a "larger" (in diameter) wire. Taking 2 strands of 30g twisted wire gives you about a "single" 28g wire. In addition, due to the gaps created by the spacing between the twisted strands, and the spacing of the wraps themselves, you do create more surface area, that the juice touches. More surface area, more vapor, more cloud, more flavor.
