Ahead of The Walking Dead's Season 7 premiere next week, AMC has renewed its post-apocalyptic zombie series for an eighth season.
According to Deadline, Season 8 will span a total of 16 episodes and make its debut sometime late next year. Coincidentally, the Season 8 premiere will serve as the series' 100th episode.
In addition, the network announced that Chris Hardwick will return to host a new season of The Walking Dead aftershow, The Talking Dead.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC next week when the Season 7 premiere, titled "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be," airs on Sunday, October 23 at 9/8c.
