Things started to get really interesting during the final moments of "The Other Side," during a daring, and possibly suicidal, assassination mission featuring Rosita and Sasha, but then everything abruptly cut off, leaving us in the lurch with a cliffhanger. Cliffhangers can be a good thing in moderation, but not when they're momentum killers in midst of a season that desperately needs some inertia.
The bulk of "The Other Side" was spent over in Hilltop, the least interesting of Season 7's survivor communities, and involved another visit by Simon's faction of the Saviors (I like Simon as a character a lot more than Negan) and another instance of Gregory being slimy and scheming. Instead of a full takeover for Team Maggie now, it looks like Gregory might be moving some chess pieces around to get some of the Hilltop-ians, and Simon, on his side so that Maggie doesn't retain too many followers. It's all rather uninteresting overall, though it does give Xander Berkeley some choice and opportune moments to stooge and smarm it up.
