The worst thing happened this week for a diy-er to me. (at least imo the worst)

Been using a notebook to record all my recipes and notes on each recipe in for a long time and now it's GONE. My wife thinks i'm crazy cause I have torn entire rooms in our apartment apart multiple times looking for it and my car. About the only place I haven't looked for it is up my butthole and I'm pretty sure I'd notice if it was there. Is there a good site or something I can use to record recipes in that I won't ever have to worry about losing it again? I was thinking of just using open office and then saving that to google drive. Also is there somewhere where all the flavourart tobacco flavors are discussed and reviewed in a nice list? I found HIC's notes on flavors to be quite helpful for all, but many of the tobacco flavors. I know he's not a big tobacco fan, but surely many others are like myself?

I use this one: DIY E-Liquid Calculator Ten Flavors With Nicotine Plus PG/VG Adjusting -- the downside is that the recipes aren't available if your internet is down, but you can access them anytime anywhere that you do have internet access. I also copy them to google docs spreadsheets to make the printable version neater with less detail.

If you plan on making eliquid for profit, don't post any recipes at online recipe calculators - they get posted everywhere if it's a good recipe, put them in a spreadsheet and upload to your non-shared cloud drive (google or dropbox).

This is the absolute best DIY software available, and it's FREE. HotRod regularly updates it with feature requests. There''s a bit of a learning curve to it, but it has great features that you never even knew you needed. Juice Calculator

I use e-Juice Me Up recipe software, and save the recipe files to my Google Drive, so that I have the recipes on multiple computers and so that I don't lose them.
I use this too.
I also print them out & keep them in a big, 3-ring binder along with recipes I want to try.
That binder stays right by my PC.

I use ecigvape.com and it allows for sharing publicly or privately and serves as my online backup. Which is actually the ONLY Online back I will use! But I am also old fashioned and I always print my recipes for a hard copy back up. And yes this is from a person in the Information Technology Field!

i just downloaded this and I already really like it. very easy to use and I love that it has a little note box I can keep my notes in.

Zamazam while it'd be a dream of mine to open a shop or sell recipes for profit I have no idea how to go about doing that, but yea I was going to keep all my recipes in my non-shared google drive as a backup.

I also planned on printing them out in case my computer crashed.

Thanks everybody! hopefully this never happens again. I found like 7 pages worth of my recipes on here in the forums and it's barely a 1/3 of all my recipes, but it's still a lot better than losing everything.

I'm going to give this app a try, there are some things about the way e-Juice Me Up works that kinda irks me.

seeing as how i don't have any names for any of my recipes ejuice me up will probably get confusing to me assuming i find my notebook and can put all my recipes into the app, but as a backup it's pretty convenient.

You likey? I'm the dude that helped him get that feature going. :D
That, and to have it install the updates into the same directory that it was originally installed in, not the default directory.

It's a great calc. Use the Notes box like you used your notebook. Excellent calc with tons of features. If I ever start mixing for profit I'll pat myself on the back for taking the time to learn all its gizmos.

I do all my notetaking on evernotes. Easy to use, syncs up with your phone and easy to search for keywords.
Good luck, hope you find it!

Still no signs of my magical notebook. Really pissed to have all my recipes from the last year just disappear. Hopefully I can find it this weekend.

Anyone using ejuicemeup app figure out how to use the weight measurement option ?
You have to first put in how much PG, VG, and your nic base weigh per ml. Click Tools / Gram Set and you'll get a popup where you enter in the gram weights. For PG I use 1.036. For VG I use 1.249. For nicotine, it's going to vary depending on if you're using PG nic, VG nic, or 50/50 PG/VG nic. If it's 50/50, then that would sort out to be 1.1425. For water, it's 1. For flavoring, it depends on the flavoring type you use. Most are PG based. In reality, all flavorings will vary a bit in their weight, but either put in the weight of PG (1.036) or put in a 1. I keep it simple and just have a 1 in that slot.

Best I remember, pre-existing recipes will have to be individually edited. If you put in the values and save it as your default recipe, those values will be there every time you open it (along with the recipe), making it where in order to enter a new recipe, you are merely having to edit the flavorings and not having to put in the weight bit. (hope that makes sense).

Note: every time you change the default recipe (when changing it to make it a new recipe), or make any changes to any recipe for that matter, you will need to click the calculate button to get the new values to use when mixing.

I guess it would it be better to just measure what mine weigh in at 1st per ml.. How much do flavorings differ in weight I wonder

I've seen variances from 0.96 g/ml to 1.06 g/ml with most flavors falling into the 1.03 to 1.04 range. Thing is I don't think ejuicemeup allows you to input the specific gravity for each flavor. Most just use 1 g/ml and call it close enough for government work...

Definition of close enough for government work: Measure with a micrometer, mark it with a piece of chalk, and cut it with an ax...

My thoughts, exactly. It's close enough.

One thing I've found, if you're making a small bottle (such as 10ml) of eliquid, it's better to make the flavoring separately (in a larger qty) and then add it later, especially if recipe calls for tiny amounts of some of the flavors (e.g. 1% or 2%)

E.g. if recipe is:
Flavor 1: 1%
Flavor 2: 3%
Flavor 3: 2%
Flavor 4: 4%
Take a 10ml bottle and put in 1g of Flavor 1, 3 grams of Flavor 2, etc. Then, when using that flavor mix, use it at 10% (since 4+2+3+1=10%)
Still working on morning caffeine, so hope that makes sense and that my math is right

Edit to add: as Heabob says in the post that follows, the larger flavor mixing like I just wrote about should only be done for a recipe that you're happy with and have already fine tuned.

Great for an established "dialed in" recipe.
But not something I'd try with untested recipes tho.
(Just a note as we've got new DIY'ers around here);)
