Thor: Ragnarok held strong in first place during its second weekend at the North American box office, earning an estimated $56.6 million.
Marvel Studios' latest, which had the fourth-largest opening of 2017 last weekend, now has a domestic total of $211.6 million, eclipsing the earnings of the first Thor movie and Thor: The Dark World. Additionally, Ragnarok's global total now stands at $650 million, making it the twelfth consecutive film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to soar past the $500 million mark in worldwide earnings.
Meanwhile, this weekend brought with it the debut of Daddy's Home 2, which placed second with an estimated $30 million, and received an "A-" CinemaScore from moviegoers. The Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg-led Christmas comedy's opening weekend didn't quite reach the heights of the original film, which debuted in 2015 to $38.7 million.
