Time to get into TC

I've got years of vaping and about 4 months of VW sub-ohm vaping under my belt and now I'm wanting to dive into temperature control.

I've been doing some research and I've decided that I definitely want something that's a dual 18650, AND is capable of firing at 150 watts or more.

I've been researching several and like a few of the ones I've found.

So far the Smok Xcube II, the Sigelei Fuchai, and the Wisemec Reuleaux are my top 3. I tried my brother in-law's IPV 4 and liked it, so it's a possibility, but not a favorite. There's also the Sig 150s, but I think they're ugly.

I like the Xcube II's features, looks, SS support, Bluetooth connected app nerdy coolness, and is updatable (and to 180w). I've heard that Smok has a bad rep for QC so that's the only downfall I can see for the Xcube. It's also right in the range I'd want to spend

The Fuchai has loads of power, but no SS support and doesn't look updatable. The price is right though and it seems that Sigelei is a well established and trusted brand.

The Reuleaux looks cool. It also is a 3 18650 mod, so I'm assuming even more life than 2 18650 mod. It has SS support. However it also doesn't look to be updatable. The price is the lowest of my top 3 and Wisemec doesn't seem to have much bad press.

I'm leaning toward the Xcube personally. Anybody have experience with any of these?

With tc you do not need all that power anything over 80 is just a waist unless your going to use it in power mode.

IPV3Li is worth a look as well. It does TC for Ni200 and Ti1, and is updateable. You can TC SS on it with a -50 degree F setting from what I understand, though I haven't tried it yet. I do love the performance of this mod in Ni200 and Ti 1 modes though. Another bonus is it's built like a tank, so it'll hold up to just about anything you can put it through.

I've been using a IPV D2 with a Freemax Starre tank set between 480-500 degrees at 40 watts. It's the most flavorful and pleasant vape I've ever had. I don't see myself going back to non-TC anytime soon. Honestly. think the most important piece to having an enjoyable TC experience is the coil in your tank.

Having owned an Xcube I can honestly say I would take any Reuleaux over the cube. The cube is great if you get one that works. If you don't its a major pain. I only vape in TC and while I stay between 45-55w on my Crown my TFV4 I run at 80-90w. I'm a big fan of the DNA Reuleaux because of the battery life. I also have a VT200 and while it vapes great the battery life is absolutely horrible. I don't think I would ever buy a mod with a lipo again. I really can't comment extensively on the Reuleaux RX200 because I have not received it yet but I have it on preorder. If it vapes as well as the original and at half the price then that's a win for everyone. I would not spend my money on another Smok device after my experience with the X Cube. Way to many quality control issues on that box.

Using TC effectively is all about a balance of ramping of the wattage in an effective way none of the lower cost alternatives are going to do what a DNA 200 does some come close enough .. the Xcube II is the lowest cost that I know of that has been tested and works... getting a good one is a challenge and upgrading the firmware is a pain paying to upgrade to stainless steel is a chore its doable .. Getting into TC is easy being satisfied with it is a chore for hard core users coming from a RDA.. It is doable though

I'm gonna go with team DNA 200, even using 24g dual coil ss in temp mode, I don't use any more than 85w and that's for preheat punch, normally its only pushing me at 70w at most for the same build in kanthal I need 110w for like performance.
That out of the way, if you don't want to fiddlefuck with escribe i think the sx350j chip is a great performer in dual battery mode-ie boxer, vaporlips, or signature mods. I think the smokcube mod has some similar feature sets as the sx as well.

I realize that I don't NEED 200 watts to TC, hell I barely exceed 60 when using power on my iStick 100w. What is attractive about the 100+ watt mods is just the (electronically boosted) capacity and capability.

I don't want another single battery mod that lasts half a day (if that). I want the 160+ watt mod. I'm not going to vape at 160+, but that's what I want.

The Reuleaux is looking pretty attractive to me at the moment.

I was contemplating one of the RX ones, but I just don't want to buy 6 more batteries without seeing how heavy it is! Great price though, and I would think a good buy if you're not worried about weight/size. I've used my Asolo for months, mainly because of the dual battery capability even though I never go over 70 watts.

I don't believe anyone was meaning to imply that, but some of us post more info than requested for the noob lurkers who don't say anything but research.
As to the realoux, both models are upgradeable. the Rx200 is a joyetech chip that is capable of tc with ni200, ti and ss. joyetech is pretty good about issuing upgrades also, they started the upgradeable chip feature.
The DNA200 version is pretty self explanatory there. The big thing that not many people have said anywhere is the the DNA200 while pricier, - the chip has support of evolv on top of whatever the wismec/joyetech support offers.
Also;messing with escribe gives the DNA all the tc boost functions that really make the vape from it better than any other chip I've used.
Edit: the price of the DNA version overall is amazing considering the chip -and I say that as a vapor shark fanboy

Just a quick thought, how about the IPV5 that's just been released. But, case in point, of the 3 given, go with the Wismec Reuleaux DNA200, I'm waiting for mine to arrive in a day or two, hopefully.
Edit, don't even bother with the X CUBE II, mine has way too many troubles. Can't update to the latest version, won't allow me to use Ti01 even after I had paid to upgrade it, etc., etc.

I really like my X Cube!! My titanium wire is coming on Tuesday so I can start to play with TC. Keep in mind, Ti and SS compatibility require a download to upgrade. It's a whole $0.49 for each and can be bought right through the app.

The mod has worked very well for the month or so I've had it. I chose to get something with 150+ watts simply for the ability to do whatever I'd like with it, especially outside of TC. Right now they can be found for well under $70. I might have to get another in white to compliment the black one. I personally find the silver one to be a fingerprint magnet, but not quite as bad as the Snow Wolf.

The difference between the $50 rx and the $150 DNA is huge!

My biggest issue with the Reuleaux is that I can't charge 3 batteries at once (unless I use the USB). I'd love the battery life of 3 batteries though.

Such a dilemma...

If the DNA 200 is the way to go there seem to be much less expensive options than the DNA Reuleaux, like the Snow Wolf for instance.

I just didn't want to spend more than like $70.

The Snow Wolf doesn't use a DNA200 chip.

The snow wolf is not a dna200 mod
The reloux is the first widely available 3 18650 dna200 out there. the least expensive mod I've seem carry that board is either the hotcig or the hcigar in the 130$ range both of which are li'l powered. in all honesty, had they not released the RX the realoux would easily sell for 250-300$ if it were made in america.

But what I would do if I were you is write a list of features that you have to ad, another list of what you would like it to have and a list of things you definitely don't.

Then look at the suggestions made and go from there

I bought my Reuleaux from vapenw with batteries for $135 on a pre Black Friday sale. Some guy here got one at the same site on a flash sale for $108. I have a VT200 as well and it pales in comparison to the Wismec. It feels better in hand, and the battery life is just sick. If I had not had one already and I was looking to buy one now I would be really torn. There are rumors swirling out there that the DNA chip is in short supply right now. Does that mean that the DNA version is due for a price increase? Did the release of the RX pull the price of the DNA version down? I don't know, I'm just glad I was able to get one and I am very happy with my purchase.

Different strokes for different folks. I have a VT200, DX200, and a Lavabox. Heck, they are smaller than some of my single 18650 mods. That's one of the things I really like about them. The three 18650 idea is good for battery life, but it's big and heavy. Not something I want to be carrying around all day if I'm out and about (can't imagine trying to pocket carry those lol). All depends on personal preference imo.

PS I've seen the VT200 for $119.99 shipped and the DX200 a tad cheaper than that (that includes the 3s Lipo).

I have the 3Li and the Reuleaux DNA200 and both will work nicely for you. The 3Li has been a workhorse to this point and I just got the 200 and it's incredible also.

My brother in-law said his "bang around" mod for the last few months has been a Koopor and he hasn't broken it yet.

He works in construction and keeps the mod in his pants pocket. I didn't ask him whether it was the plus or the mini, but if it's held up to his abuse and chain-vaping, whether it's the mini or the plus it should hold up to my use.

I have a I stick 60 it has a heat sink as long as the board and it never gets hot. This is a good idea they all should have this instead of that dinky heat sink they all use.

So, the vendor I bought the Koopor Plus from doesn't have the silver/SS model in stock and just sent me an email today saying that they can't send it out unless I pick a different color (white or red...). Glad I used PayPal because this is getting cancelled.

My problem now is that that I have yet to find a reputable vendor or a US vendor that has the silver/SS Koopor Plus in stock. I see pre-orders, but no actual "in stock" with any US vendors I've seen.

VaporDNA has it in black, which I may end up doing, but in the end I really want the silver one....

If anyone sees the silver Koopor Plus from a US vendor in stock let me know.
