Titanium fused clapton not up to par?

Hi everyone fairly new to VU and building with Ti. I like to build low resistance, and prefer clapton coils:p(I mean of course who wouldn't be) yet I am not getting anywhere near the flavor or vapor production of my previous nickel ones.
Currently I have some 26 ga Ti1 from lightning vapes and was having a funny taste on every fresh coil I made and when I went to clean it, THE BLACK STUFF LEFT OVER WAS APPALLING:eek:!!! I also have some 34 ga Ti1 from Temco and it is annealed. The temco wire came out clean on the paper towel so I'm guessing maybe some companies dont clean them and thats just gross!! I cant believe I was vaping that and what a waste of wire, now I gotta throw away the clapton strands I already made:mad:.
Soooooo....Aside from the funny taste that has propably been caused from this crappy wire freaking me the hell out(which I also have to say gave me an odd tingling feeling like a "body buzz" almost), Does anyone have any Ideas on how I can get this stuff to really crank like my nickel claptons? They were fairly easy and heat up very fast and have plenty of flavor but I switched since I heard so many good things and resistance is higher and now im wondering why!! ANY SUGGESTIONS?? Mostly do spaced coils, never been comfortable dry firing t/c, and I do like a highr temp usually 450-500 but the Ti also seems to have to start in the 300's and work up to 400's once broken in......This happen to anyone else??

OL BUILD- 2xtwisted ni200 30 ga. as the core, 32 ga outer----tcr about 675 on the rx200
NEW BUILD-2xfused Ti1 28 ga. core, 34 ga Ti1 outer----tcr about 370 on the rx200

OK SO FOR ANYONE WHO CARES...jk....I think it is the super low resistnace and with titanium the resistance might have to be a bit higher. I got my 28 ga annealed wire from Temco today and its working great so far.....The Clapton in nickel was super low resistance no matter what build so I found it best to build Claptons at a lower gauge for fitting in my tanks and getting into reading range for the mod. Might be the way to go but I still think it has to be pushed to a higher temp than nickel to get that warm thicker vapor. Gonna continue testing fused then might try a twisted core like the original nickel builds, it seemed like the wire had a staggered look to it and might have helped in holding the juice more.
----As far as the odd taste its still faint at first and goes away almost immediately with this wire so I definitely wont be getting UN-annealed or lightningvapes wire again....that was not a fun experience!!!

Im about to move to my first TC. Thinking of buying a Ti coil. Currently on a clapton kanthal.
Been looking high and low for someone who had done Ti on Ti clapton. Better still, Fused clapton.
Wonder why is it so scarce.

So usually i am a silent reader amongst vaping forum, had to register myself here just to show you I CARE! You got some love McDovin here mate...whatever that means.

So how bout putting up some photos of your Ti + Ti clapton please.

SWEET AND WELCOME TO VU!!! haha I am happy to hear that....It is safer to use temp control(as long as its used properly) AND I have saved some money too. I have really been looking for good reason to get tapatalk and learn how to use it to upload pics etc. AND NOW I HAVE ONE!HAHA
I am seeing that Ti is definitely not gunking up as fast as nickel and the wires a bit tougher so if I bump em on accident they dont mess all up on me. I am definitely not ready to say Ti is "IT" for me yet but I got lots of wire to play with for now;). Made a really awesome Clapton device I use I am gonna take a pic of for you too......and I hope you got some nice swivels they make fused a breeze!!

Then theres the buddha and the guide is two pipette tips cut off inside one another and a thick piece of wire or even a hanger to hold it on the spool....Its a BADASS!! No unspooling necessary!

I definitely think its scarce because of the dry fire issue and the fact they are low resistance so most people probably think you have to put bigger more wraps on there but the trick is use smaller wire to raise the resistance.....28 core and 34 outer is what I happen to have been able to get, they dont have 32 right now

Will have to try that smaller gauge idea, ran into low resistance issues with all nickel and all Ti coils. I did have some success with SS/Ni and SS/Ti claptons.

Nice build and thanks for chiming in!!! I wish mine were always pretty, I seem to always mess them up right at the last step and I just say forget it, I try and limit my build time or ill get caught in the "perfection" aspect........My resistance with a 28/34 all Ti in the mutation v4 came out to around .13 ohms, granted I have a diff build on each side b/c I was testing which worked better(both same length though).....Either way I tried it with 26 Ga Ti core(same outer, Temco has been out of 32) and parallel coils were right on the edge of .5 -. 6 and the device not reading. I am just not comfortable putting a non T/C wire in a device that wasnt meant for that....personally lol.....My RX has more juice than a laptop so I try and take it serious Im putting that thing to my face on a constant basis!!! I hope my T&E helps keep others from annoying issues I had to deal with......ALSO this makes it much more possible to put sick Clapton builds in RBAs or RTAs with small post holes or build spaces!!

I assume you meant .05 - .06. Yeah my RX won't read that, but the Hcigar with dna board will. Evolve says .08 is the minimum but the board will read lower, it just limits the wattage available. I like TemCo, great prices and very clean wire. Wish they had SS and NiFe52. I hear you about taking it seriously, got a Noisy Cricket a few days ago, really like it but you can't make stupid mistakes :D Lotta good info/discussion in the "Coils" sub forum....

Haha yea my bad....I always do that....but we knew what I meant right?lol..... I know Temco is slippin!! I want to try stainless but I have had wires pop on me and made me weary about trying it again. Send me a link if theres an area talking about this type of stuff...I searched but didnt get too many results relating.

Not impressed with LV at all.
The wire was giving both vapers in the house serious non kosher vape issues.

I was under the impression this SECTION was for builds on rebuildables not the rebuildables themselves....seeing as it was builders corner, I just thought talk about atomizers would be in equipment but it IS rebuildable atomizer talk so it makes a bit more sense now..Should it be moved to coils?

If you want, but I don't know how to do that. Check out this thread, starts kinda slow but by page 4 it's rockin'...

I fear I am not qualified to jump into a conversation of path of resistance or safety on a device like a noisy cricket....I am vaping to increase safety not really just for fun and those things are basically a light switch circuit IMO!! haha.....battery to wire to button to face...right? I like my safety features etc. and If my device isn't meant to read two different types of metals at once, I do NOT want to be among the first to test it out!! ;)

I'm certainly not qualified either, but it's interesting stuff. You don't know what you're missing with the Noisy Cricket - I think this is the droid I was looking for..lol. As long as you build .40 and above it's safe with true 20 amp continuous discharge batteries (LG HG/Samsung25r/SonyVTC), and I'm getting an outstanding vape (touch too hot for my taste) with a 28/32 dual fused clapton @ .38ohm that I managed to shoehorn into a Velocity clone. I also have some store bought fused claptons coming that should come in .5 in dual configuration, that should cool it down just about right.

edit - brainfart, fixed it above > .4 ohms

Not at all man, not sure if the oil or the make is the issue.
Try a side by side just regular 3mm coil build not torched, the metal feels different.
Side by side load out on a atty and you will see a flavor and performance difference.

Still couldn't find a premade clapton Ti+Ti. Please do let me know if you have any links. Keep it coming. A lot to learn here.
Most premade T/C coils I have seen have been of two diff types of metal as well. You thought about making them yourself or ever tried? I have thought about selling premade ALL T/C coils, and Ti is SUPER easy to work with! However now you can buy premade rolls of stainless steel claptons which seems to be the hype so I am not sure how well Ti and nickel coils would do market wise.

I wanted to make some but its so hard to get higher gauge Ti from where I live.
Probably get some SS first i guess. If you're selling, how will it be like for how much. Just curious.

Yeah in order to get locally I had to make a special request and they use lightning vapes and that ended up to be a pain lol. I got my wire on ebay from Temco a very trusted large distributor for many things and they have 100 ft of 34 ga. for like $6......I have no Idea what coils go for maybe like 5 bucks a foot would be about what I would pay. Seems to be the going rate on rolls. I make mine in about 1 ft sections though makes it easier to clip a coil and go for me but I am seeing a lot of people selling coils already made. I am thinking thats probably a way to get a few extra bucks out of you but it really depends on the length of each coil, but if no fuss already made coils is your preference that may be your best bet.

Did you contact Lightning Vaped about the wire? I've been dealing with them for many years now and to be honest, their customer services is TOP NOTCH.... Talk to them, tell them about the dirty wire, they will most likely send you a replacement spool or maybe store credit of some sort. I've bought thousands of feet of wire from them and I've literally gotten ONE (which really isnt bad if you think about how many spools I've actually purchased) dirty spool. A few years back, when this happened to me, I contacted them and they did either send me out a replacement or gave me store credit equal to the price of the dirty spool, I can't really remember which one it was.... Overall I've always like dealing with them... Contact them, dont just shrug it off and loose a good vendor!

Only sucky part is I bought all my LV wire at a B&M so I cant quite return to LV since I dont have a receipt. I told the manager and gave him some of the wire but not sure what he did about it. I previously always purchased nickel from that store and all other wires were clean. I bought Titanium this time and I believe its the Ti wires that are dirty because I checked another roll different size and same thing. Did you ever order Ti from them?

Just buy from LV direct. They always have coupons for up to 20% off. They also have flash sales on wire for 10-20% off + your coupon! Abd always free shipping. I'm an avid Lightning Vapes customer!

Honestly I would rather not put money in the hands of someone who sold dirty wire....The companies who really care will take the extra precautions to make sure wire is clean for their users( this is a huge health risk factor for the vaping industry IMO). I just think inspecting your products in that industry should be the top priority as the products will be used for "consumption" pretty much. Companies just take it too lightly and I wont support that.....Not when there are a lot of other companies(UNKAMEN I hear is one) that are always sure to take the extra steps(for our safety) and they charge the same price basically.

I bought SS from a company on Ebay called K BEE vapes and it was a little dirty. He said we suggest you clean it before use but that is not stated anywhere and if it was, I wouldnt have bought that wire....I dont think anyone would and they know that. I told him dont expect anymore of my business!!! This other company I bought the core from was vape heart and they were fantastic.....Look HERE at the packaging and it was so clean, I mean I really tried to get dirt off it but that wire was pristine. I love that plastic case to keep it clean and the vapers best interest in mind even with the little hook on the spool for your wire to loop onto!! (That thing is so useful) ......Thats who I want to support with my money is all im sayin!!(I know Im long winded but I wanted to share) thanks for reading hehe:D

Some of the dirtiest Ti I ever got was from Unkamen. I emailed the owner Ralph and he said that he was changing his supplier and future product would be clean and polished. Don't know if that happened or not, as he did not offer some kind of compensation for the shitty wire I received I went elsewhere. The TemCo wire I have gotten has always been extremely clean, can't get anything off of it with alcohol scrub, and hardly even a wisp of smoke on a quick pulse. LV wire has been hit and miss for me. They always have the LV15 coupon so the prices are good, but with the amount of wire I use for my personal coils cost is not the main consideration.

Temco was where I bought the rest of my Ti from after the LV incident.....Sad to hear about Unkamen, I definitely didnt expect that after all the good I have read. Temco was even nice enough to email me to let me know they had 32 ga. Ti available, which they were previously out of. I wish they sold SS I would have ordered that from them. I understand a lot of these wire companies buy from Temco anyway so why not cut out the middle man right?
