I'm familiar with how sound waves can distort our perceptions (very low frequencies, i.e. around the resonant frequency of our eyes can cause "ghost sightings" for example). This is the first I've heard about the Frey Effect, i.e. electromagnetic waves that can effect our hearing.

I’m more into home audio, but these days it seems like you’re a pussy if you don’t have a couple 24” subs or 8+ 18” subs. Of course, it is fun to have subs that will shake the foundation of your house (and your neighbors) reproducing the ultra deep stuff that makes it into flicks here and there. Fucking Irene from Black Hawk Down remains a good benchmark in that regard (~7Hz).
