I wonder whether those laws would stand up to legal scrutiny? I mean, how can states come along and set utterly arbitrary requirements for eligibility to a federal office? If they can demand that a candidate release his tax returns, what keeps them from making any other demands their whims desire? The Constitution is pretty clear what the requirements are, and those requirements do not include releasing personal financial info.
yeah bullshit..I don't think the state legislatures have any power to dictate federal election laws....of course I'm sure there is nothing more important to the political weasels of these states to attend to other than cheap theatrics...like road work, schools,damn projects, taxes,or public health.
