Hey guys. My cousin, who is one of the greatest people in my life is ready to quit the stinkies. He's ready to give vaping a shot so of course I want to give him a rig and some juice and whatever I have to to make it as easy as possible and eliminate as many "worries" as possible. So I'm setting him up with a subtank mini (for mouth to lung at first) sitting on top of an iStick 30. I'm going to buy him a 5 pack of OCCs . Like many of us, he wants a juice that resembles an analog. My question is: at what nic level should I mix for him to start with the subtank mini? I'm guessing I'll set it up for him restricted so he can mouth to lung. Also, what's a good "real" tobacco flavor to start with? I've got some old MFS nic so that will give him the throat hit. Lastly, what is a good, realistic tobacco flavor to get him started with? He specified that he wants a realistic tobacco flavor. All I have tobacco wise is 7 leaves, black honey tobacco and ry4. I doubt he'll be into that. He smokes marb lights. Probably a pack and a half per day.

So to sum it up:
-With a subtank mini, what nic level and what ohm would you recommend for a person (1.5 packs, marb lights) transitioning from analogs to vaping?

-A good DIY tobacco flavor and/or recipe to set him up with based on his smoking habits?

Thanks in advance. Very excited to help a fellow Nic addict and see my cousin live a longer healthier life!

I copied this from my files, it's a Wayne Walkerr recipe that he says he made for when he has cravings for an actual cigarette:

MARBLE 27

INW Am4a 6%

FA Caramel 1%

FA Almond 1.5%

FA MTS Vape Wizard 1 drop per 15ml

MIX AT 70VG // 30PG

STEEP TIME: LONG (1-2 WEEKS)

PREFERRED TEMP:450F

MARBLE 27: A MARLBORO LIGHT / MARLBORO 27 CLONE THAT IS WOODY, SWEET, AND ASHY, AS WELL AS AUTHENTIC

THIS RECIPE WAS CREATED OUT OF MY NEED TO STIFLE MY CRAVINGS I STARTED GETTING HALFWAY THROUGHOUT MY VAPING CAREER. I NEEDED SOMETHING TO REPLICATE THE TASTE AND FEEL OF THE THOUSANDS OF MARLBORO LIGHTS I HAVE SMOKED. SO I CRAFTED THIS, AN EASY TO MAKE RECIPE, THAT DELIVERS ON BOTH GOOD FLAVOR AND AUTHENTICITY. AT A HIGH NIC CONTENT, LOADED INTO A KAYFUN, YOU HAVE YOURSELF THE MOST PERFECT REPRESENTATION OF A MARLBORO LIGHT YOU WILL EVER FIND.

Flavor Notes:

INW Am4A:This is one of the best tobaccos you can use in your eliquids. It is a delicious and accurate tobacco, with enough dirty neutral base in it to give you that authentic ashy feel. This is no where near RY4. It's not a sweet, caramel, and half candy. This is down and dirty, like straining a nasty cigarette right into a bottle. The reason why I like it is because I get cravings from time to time for a real cigarette. A blueberry muffin infused with banana cream high VG juice, just doesn't cut it sometimes when I really need one of them cowboy killers. So this is the flavor that I like to go to the most because of how close I can make it to tasting like one of my old pastimes the Marlboro Light or Marlboro 27. At 6%, even solo, you get a very powerful and accurate cigarette flavor, it's almost astonishing.

FA Caramel / Almond:These are the accompanying notes that really make a Marlboro light turn into a Marlboro 27. That tobacco is really heavy, so to break through you have to use these relatively high. These just add a little more nuttiness and sweetness into a tobacco that doesn't really have any of it. After the steep, these flavors really come through, and are a little more prominent than you'd expect, so I would base any tweaks on the juice after a good 2 long weeks.

MTS Wizard:This is an optional, but very recommended, ingredient in the flavor especially. MTS Wizard was designed by Flavourart specifically for tobacco flavors and it's a very interesting ingredient. It's not a flavoring, it's an enhancer that gives the entire tobacco a nice thick well rounded mouth-feel. Think of it as turning the vapor into more of a smoke, just without the smoke flavor. This actual thickening of the vapor, really adds to the flavor of the Am4A, and ultimately adds to the authenticity of the entire experience. So I HIGHLY recommend adding MTS Wizard into your arsenal, because it's useful for your other flavors as well.

My last analogs were Marb lights and 12mg nic was too strong, I chain vaped the first day and near the end of the day I got nic sick. 6mg nic would probably be good for light smokers.

Halo had a flavor that was real popular and real good for me, I think it was a Ry4 blend. I also wanted something tobacco flavored at first too but was thinking vaping wasn't for me. It wasn't until a friend of mine told me I need to vape flavored and give up on tobacco that I finally got hooked and never picked up another analog. I would say give your cousin some good tobacco but also some really good flavored, whichever you make that is something you love.

I hope your cousin drops the analogs and is lucky to be related to someone like you. Good luck.

I smoked a pack a day of Marlborough lights for 40 years and started in a V2 kit at 18mg. When I bought my Halo gear a week later I went down to 12mg.

Make sure the nic level is high enough, otherwise he'll be disappointed! If you are going the DIY route that's easy - just make a little in several levels to find out what works (and don't be afraid to start high).

I would recommend giving him a day 1-3 bottle 12 mg nic (15ml bottle). And then an 8 or 6mg nic bottle. Then secretly have a 12mg bottle waiting in the background if he isn't ready for a step down and is going through a harsh withdrawal.

Also, tobacco flavor is good. But sometimes flavor in an opposite direction is good too...but if can't Handel sweet (or find enjoyment) you could try HIC's whiskey pot of good recipie...it starts off more whiskey flavor at the start and around day 4-6 the pudding flavor comes out to play. It's a fun one to vape because you can clearly see the flavor changes as it goes. It's also not too sweet...and has the bite of whiskey.

First off it's refreshing to find an actual nice guy...alot of time we get people here telling us how they are helping somebody else and then ask for us to give them new gear....so you're legit thanks....wow hard one these guys have great suggestions....if he was an experinced vaper I'd say hook him up with some Naturally extracted tobacco juice if he likes tobacco, but unless you're and expericed builder they are a pain in the ass...I'd try and deflect him to non tobacco juices if possible if he's a tobacco lover he may find the faux tobaccos offensive.

I got to agree with @pulsevape on this...I and many others remember when we started we thought we wanted that exact flavor we had from our cigs. Nothing I tried was even close, or tasty for that matter. When I/we found some tasty fruit, candy, bakery, whatever it may have been, all was good It was easy to drop the cigs at that point. i'm just not convinced any "good" tobacco flavor even exist. Find out what his favorite candy, or fruit, or whatever is. Although we as adults aren't supposed to like these flavors lol. Then again, he might just like some ry4 lol

The other thing to do is have him try some of your mixes and if he doesn't like any take him to your local brick and motor and have him taste some of their juices.

Although we all make juice we love and in many cases taste better than what we can find ... if he could find that one juice he absolutely loves @ 10 to 20 dollars isn't that worth the price of adminsition to Vaping and dropping the cigs. That's called the a'ha moment, I can do this...which then becomes "why didn't i do it sooner." (Insert
Mary poppin's song here )

Sure, my last trip ever at a price of $60 set me over the edge and into diy (everything on sale). But, it was still cheaper than cigs and now I'm on the diy journey and having a blast. Sure, looking at my credit card statement is sad, but I have enough flavors to last me a long time (just need that order of 5 more flavors times infinity).

I'll second the @gopher_byrd recommendation to try HIC's cigarette recipe - I mixed some up once and it seemed legit, though I'd been off my Marlboro Lights for so long I couldn't really remember the taste. I've made it for a few quitters.

Back in the CE-series days, I started at 12 mg and had to bump to 18 mg to get over the hump. Now I'm thinking 12 mg should be plenty, with a quick taper to 9 or even 6 on a Subtank. Maybe make him bottles of 12 and 6, then get him to try mixing them together to make his 9 if needed...if that's too fiddly perhaps 3 15 ml bottles, one at each strength for him to try.

Whatever you end up doing, good luck to your cousin with the quit! And it's really cool of you to help him...
