At the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, Showtime president David Nevins finally revealed the premiere date for the long-awaited return of Twin Peaks.
The acclaimed David Lynch/Mark Frost series will return on Sunday, May 21st with a two-hour premiere. It was also announced that the third and fourth episodes will be available immediately following the premiere to Showtime subscribers. In addition, Nevins finally confirmed the number of episodes for the new season, revealing it will consist of 18 installments.
Showtime's version of Twin Peaks was made in a very unusual way, with Lynch and Frost writing one big script that was filmed under Lynch's direction, with Nevins previously noting Lynch and Frost would decide in the editing process exactly how many episodes it would be broken into.
