Twisted and flattening kanthal

I was wondering what the benefits of flattening my twisted coils are? I don't mean flattening with a hammer but I mean using a pair of toothless needle nosed pliers to flatten the humps when u twist the kanthal. Is it supposed to give better flavor or clouds? Thanks!

I don't see an advantage in flattening the wire, rather the opposite. With an untreated twisted wire, you'll have more spaces the juice can penetrate into, thus more vapor, and flavor. Just my $0.02.

The theory behind flattened coils are they have a better surface area for agains the cotton once the cotton is wicked and broken in.
