Upgrade Advice

Hello all,

I would really appreciate the advice from experts I've been using a Innokin Cool fire 4 mod with a Kanger top tank Mini for about 9 months now. On the whole I don't have too much issues other than the Kanger top tank frequently leaking.

Now I appreciate that some of this is my fault and poor maintenance but the things an absolute nightmare to clean and replace the atomizer. Whatever you do it's screwed on so tight you need a pair of heavy duty pliers to unscrew which after doing this a few time has caused some damage.

Soooooo, I'm thinking of binning the thing and just purchasing a new tank. Does anyone have any advice on what would pair nicely with the Cool Fire 4? I'm not to concerned with price, I recently said 'goodbye' to tobacco all together a few weeks ago so I feel like treating myself with a new tank anyway.

Thanks in advance to everyone who replies.

Welcome to VU! There are so many tanks out there to choose from. Are you looking to build your own coils or go with pre-made? That would help narrow down the suggestions.

The Crown is a good choice, .25 and .5 coils, great flavor and clouds. The only issue is your Cool Fire 40W, the Crown needs at least 50-60W'
Just my personal opinion.

Well as you are going to need a back device anyway and you are still new, I recommend gettin the Coolfire IV plus. It goes up to 70 watts and you can get the full kit with the ISub Apex. I recommend buying the Clapton .5ohm coils for it. Awesome flavor and vapor production. I've had mine since May and have experienced no leaks and have dropped it several times, the tank holds up extraordinarily well. I only broke the glass drip tip that came with but still have the Delrin, that also came with it. :)

Welcome UnCut ! Ditto what Celctiluvr says.. do consider another coolfire with a bit more wattage. I have the 18650 ver.. very reasonable price wise right now.. (35$ ish - not counting batteries/charger) and as Mark mentioned .. are you considering building or wish to use premade coils?

A couple tanks that would go great with your Coolfire would be the Aspire Cleito or Tobeco Super Tank Mini. Both are around 20 bucks, and the coils are readily available. Work well at relatively low wattage (25-35 watts). Check Youtube for performance reviews. Welcome to VU.

Wow, thank you all for the replies. I'm really glad I joined this forum now! Good shout out regarding the coolfire 4 plus, I had thought about this but I've never really understood why vaping at a higher voltage is preferred? (noob question I know). Currently I use my Coolfire 4 at 30-35V (depending on the liquid) and generally find this absolutely fine for me, I've vaped at a higher voltage before but found 30-35 to be around right for me. I don't like to directly inhale and prefer mouth to lung.

I'm also not looking to build me own coils, mainly because I need my vape to be reliable and I don't want to experiment too much since I'm now finally tobacco free (after 10 years). The Isub Apex is a really good suggestion, I have used a Isub tank before with the coolfire 4, I had two of them and both we really faulty, absolutely terrible leakage from day one but I noticed that the Apex has the air flow at the top which I've not seen before, is their any advantage to this design? I'm assuming that it would really help prevent leakage?

yes the main advantage is that top air flow is much less likley to leak. One of the reasons I prefer tanks like the fodi, avocado, limitless, azeroth, etc. 'Tank on the bottom' vs "Tank higher than the air opening" .. just seems easier physics wise to me. Check those out if you have time.. they are all 'build-able' which I notice you said you wanted to stay away from .. however wrapping a basic simple coil that is reliable is absolutely not hard at all ! Much cheaper than coils .. and you never have to worry about running out of something you can't make yourself.

So thumbs up for top airflow tanks from me .. and whichever you decide, you can always shout out for some advice if you need it!

Yes it does help prevent leakage, never had mine to leak... Unless I forgot to close the juice port, which I've done twice.:giggle::giggle: It is a very well built sturdy tank, and I'm completely in love with it. :) It is very simple to clean as well. Just unscrew the bottom piece, pull out the coil, go to the sink, open the juice ports and run it under a hot/warm tap. Shake it out real good to dry it some. slap in the primed coil, screw on the bottom piece and filler 'er up. Like I said before, I prefer the .5 ohm clapton coils for my Apex. They can go up to 70 watts but I like it a 55 watts. I haven't tried the TC coils yet as I don't own a TC mod. But the point is there are several different coil options for you to choose from with the iSubs. :xD: Hope you find something you like. :)

Come to the Dark Side. We have cookies. :) Check out the gear I'm using in my signature line. We can guide you to be the most "cloudz bra" vaper that ever existed. Surrender yourself to your feelings of fear and hate, use the vapor Luke, use the vapor.

Don't listen to me, unless you really desire using a mechanical mod and squonking. I suggest following what @celticluvr has posted. I had to goof off though and at least make an effort to convert you to the Dark Side, it's in our contracts. :)
