It's nothing overly impressive, no.
Since you smoke AND vape, and since this "study" is aimed at those who also smoke AND vape, I'm thinking with a great deal of surety that someone is out to "prove" that vaping has no impact on smoking cessation, therefore making it useless and/or unnecessary to help smokers stop. Therefore, it (vaping) should not be permitted. And of course there's always concern for "the kids," ya know....

Hi Teresa...LOL....Another joins the ongoing battle. My comment was actually written for Robert but thanks for your very in depth comment. Honestly, how much proof do you need?

MILLIONS have switched to vaping and almost overnight their smokers cough vanished and they feel better.

Exactly how many smokers are your ANTZ going to require to switch to vaping before you finally admit the truth?

Vaping has saved the lives of millions of people, Vaping keeps people off of deadly combustible tobacco cigarettes.

Never smokers who try vaping are not getting addicted.

If they were then the smoking rate wouldn't be at the lowest it has ever been since you have been tracking it and the smoking rate has dropped more in the last 3 years (the same time vaping became mainstream) than the last two decades before vaping became popular.

Kind of interesting that study that shall remain a mystery until it's published. I know the game when it comes to academic research and publishing of papers. What no one on the thread has caught onto is that the study and resultant research and paper will be published to garner more grant money for future studies and publishing of said studies and papers. Rent seeking academic style.

I'd be interested to find out the source of the grants for the studies being conducted by USC and pwgnikki, but I'm sure Altria and the others want to keep their involvement on the QT. After all, the money they invest to demonize vaping will ultimately benefit them when they try to seize the market though subterfuge and though academic studies that start with a desired outcome and then make the data fit the hypothesis. So much for the scientific method. Quite a few of us know that game.

If all that fails, Big Tobacco can always make it political. That's why they have so much power and money, they play the political game and have been for decades to keep people hooked and buying their products, no matter how dangerous. "Flavoring Compounds" used in cigarettes have been shown to actually increase the addiction to tobacco. These compounds are not naturally occurring, they are made in a lab by chemists with an intricate knowledge of biochemistry, brain chemistry, and addiction Psychology. These chemists are no better than the chemists that take *pium and turn it into pure H*roin.

It's a vicious cycle. Jobs and funding disappear if they show no harm. Complete conflict of interest. Many environmental researchers do the same thing. I personally know a few. Their jobs are solely dependent upon finding something that isn't there. Scaring the shit out of the public is the common tactic.

I used to fly a bush plane up in Alaska for the Togiak Herring season. We would spot the schools of fish and radio down to the boats where to set the nets. By regulating the amount of time the season begins and ends, Alaska fish & game could regulate the biomass catch to make sure it never exceeded 13%, therefore insuring a good yearly catch and never deplete or wipe out the biomass.

One year a French camera crew was there filming us for a NOVA show. The show was supposed to be about the life of the pilots and the fisherman. We took them up in the airplanes, spent hours with them educating how the whole thing works etc...

When the show aired a year later, it was all about how these "American Cowboys" were raping the oceans. They even pulled some coke cans and garbage out of trash bins, threw them on the ground at the Togiak airstrip, filmed it to show how we were not only raping the oceans, but trashing the pristine area.
