Vape coil building completion time

wrapping the coils takes a couple of minutes depending on skill level and or tool usage.
I freehand mine on a screwdriver in about 1 minute a coil to wrap...another minute or 2 fussing about with the leads.
The most time consumed in the whole process for me is when I am situating them on the deck, cutting them down, tightening leads, test firing, etc.
Wicking takes 2-3m per coil. The good news is that I typically leave coils in for a month 2 or whenever I want to try something else. I re-wick just about every-other day. Once the leg-work is done you are talking a couple of minutes of maintenance every couple of days. I can't imagine ever going back to pre-built atty's.

I am very new to the vaping world so please bare with me! My husband has a RDTA and I am going to have some coils built for him. I found a few guys at a few different local Vape shops that can build the coils for me. Based on completion time alone I am trying decide who I chose to do the build. Is it strange or out of the norm for it to take an hour or an hour and a half to have 2 coils built taking into consideration he is not a beginner and does this sort of thing all the time?
they may be custom twisting the wire to whatever you choose before coiling it. In other words if you ask for a straight untwisted kanthal coil that is just a piece of wire vs if you asked for clapton wire which is a form of twisted wires that they "may" be making per order. Knowing how available and inexpensive clapton and other twisted wires have become, I doubt that this is the case. Wrapping the coils is no time at all but take into consideration the mounting and tweaking. That can easily take 30m or more. An hour seems feasible for dual coil (something) wicked and mounted. 90m for quad.
They are probably going to make an exaggerated price so they match it with exaggerated time.

If you are in the US, be forewarned, vape shop owners and employees are not allowed to fiddle, tweaked, adjust, repair, or rebuild a device and/or coils. First initial sale the can make as many coils as needed, and install the first set, leaves the door and business property, no other help can be provided, though another customer might be able to help. FDA new rules and definitions for a tobacco manufacturer slapped down on us on Aug 8.
Outside the US, unless the coils are super complex, without being busy with other customers, or interrupted constantly, or suffering from extreme OCD/ADHD basic simple dual coil should equal roughly 10 to 20 minutes, basic quad coil about 20 to 40 minutes. Basic Clapton dual coil if they have to wind the wire, they should have a drill or jig in store for this to speed up the process or make it during down time, about 20 to 30 minutes. Fused, stapled, alien, hive wire coils, 30 to 60 minutes is not unreasonable, twisted or parallel coils should be about as long as basic claptons. (All times mean dedicated to working on the build not being interrupted with other customers).
Remember, be nice and patient, and leave a gratuity for the builder's skill and knowledge, higher if they are friendly and do quality work in a timely manner, this generally encourages more focus on doing your builds instead of jaw yapping with buddies hanging out him hawing or goofing off if you tip regularly.

no more then 10 mintues IMO to strip down an RDA, clean it, Put a build in it, and wick it TBH. I'd say for a beginner maybe 20 mins max. Less then 5 mins if you aren't going to disassemble and clean it
more practice = less time. I can do a dual coil build in about 5 minutes, including mounting and tuning the coil. Some coils I have spent 30 minutes on, some 2 hours and one time 8 hours (but that was some fool coil with 5 strands of flat kanthal, 2 strands 26 ga kanthal and wrapped in 30ga kanthal. And my eyesight isn't what it used to be.. lol)
And earlier tonight I made a dual kissing paralell build, took about 30 minutes because I wanted to be lazy when I mounted them. So I made 2 joined coils rather than 4 separate ones. (they look like letter Ms)

Yeah, honestly it all depends on the complexity of the building and the skill and comfort level of the user
I spend 30 minutes or so on a build. I take my time. Very anal about making sure there aren't any kinks. I don't care how it looks per say. I just want the best vape quality I can get with every build. Timing is subjective with cool building because it depends on what you want and what you're using to build, plus the attention to detail varies per builder. If someone is going to build and install, try not too rush them. The more time and attention they give your coils, the more you'll enjoy the vape.
