Vaper's tongue/bad recipes/too soon to taste due to smoking??

I have seen some threads touch base on a little bit of my issue, but I'd like to hear from others for my specific situation. I quit smoking black n milds exactly 1 year ago. Started vaping 12nic for about 2 weeks-got really sick bronchitis like symptoms. Used 6nic for about 2-3 months and symptoms subsided. I was able to taste the ejuice bought from the stores mostly, but I started to get vaper's tongue (I think). I wasn't drinking much water so I started drinking more. Then I discovered how to make my own ejuice. Over this year, I have experimented with different ratios and flavors and I switch up the flavors often, almost every tank. I have an xcube2 and tvf4 tank, quad coil. I went threw about 4 different tanks and tvf4 seems to help me taste better than any others. So, I'm thinking I could still have vaper's tongue, or maybe my recipes suck, or just recently seen that maybe the length of not smoking is still short effecting my taste buds. About a month ago, I bought an ejuice that I had previously liked from a store and it didn't taste the same as when I used to buy it before I started making my own. I have tried more VG, I have tried more PG, and it doesn't really seem to change the flavor. Here is a general recipe I make and use often. Please tell me what is wrong!!!

3% nic (100mg PG based nicotine)
60% PG
40% VG
12% dx cinnamon danish (PG based FlavourArt)

I alternate fruity and dessert but generally speaking flavor % is between 12-16. Most flavors are FlavourArt, Flavor West, and TFA. I also do blends and I continuously read on what % recommended for each flavor buto I have got to be doing something wrong!! I don't care about cloud, I'd prefer more taste than cloud.

Moved ya to the DIY section, for opinions. My own, and I know this will sound ridiculous, but I wonder if TOO much change has your buds out of whack. When I'm sampling different flavors in a matter of a couple days, I get to where I can't taste them. I generally have only 2 flavors going, then sample a mix only occasionally, and haven't really lost taste in quite a while. I can have that same thing happen with tanks when I'm trying out new ones. They can produce flavors differently than my go-to tanks.

Have you thought about using a little less flavoring? That can sometimes help, too.

Hoping you get more opinions here.

You might be right that it's just too soon to taste too much, at that low a percentage of flavor. I started DIY when I'd been smoke-free about 5 months, because I couldn't really taste much from bought ejuice, and I hated paying that much for something I couldn't enjoy. My solution was in the form of "high-flavor mixing" -- the strawberry & cream recipe I developed when I started was mixed at around 30% flavoring -- and it tasted GREAT! I could actually TASTE it, instead of it being just a nice fragrance. Finally, when I had been smoke-free almost 2 yrs, it began to seem kinda icky, and too sweet.... so I lessened the sweetener, and started to slowly bring down the total percentage of flavoring -- but I still mix it at about 26% flavoring.

Check out the link in my signature, "My BEST Recipes (blog)" -- the strawberry & cream recipe at the top, I post in both its original form, at 30%-ish, and its most recent iteration, for those who don't need that much flavoring anymore, or just have more-keen tastebuds naturally. Some of us have more impairment in our sense of taste than others seem to, and it takes longer for a natural sense of taste to return, but the 30% flavoring overcomes that.

ETA: Also, do you actually mean 3mg nic? 3% nicotine is 30mg.

Flavour art at 12% is pretty high. It sounds like your tastebuds are over-loaded but these things are very hard to pin point. Everyone's flavor preference is slightly different. For example, I never used Flavour Art above 2%, regardless of the flavor. Whereas, I've seen other people mixing certain flavors from them 7% and higher. It seems crazy to me but to them it's great. Maybe try vaping unflavored for a little bit to try to reset your tastebuds and then revisit mixing at a lower percentage.

I think they meant TPA's Cinnamon Danish.

In which case maybe 12% is just not enough flavoring if you're vaping it as a standalone. You could try boosting it with a complimentary flavor like Cinnamon Sugar Cookie or Bavarian Cream or something along those lines if you want to keep it simple.

I'd consider also trying out some of the INW brand flavors, like Shisha Strawberry.
Much stronger than FW & TFA.
CAP has some good flavors too.
My favorite Cinnamon is FW Cinnamon Roll around 5%, although it does contain 0.371% Acetoin.
(But I've found that vaping Cinnamon for too long burns out my taste buds somewhat).

I've generally lowered my flavoring amounts being used, over my 2-3 years of DIY mixing.
I get more flavor using less airflow and MTL type vaping.
Although I just use a cheapo single coil @ 1.8 ohms, 7-8 watts, 70/30VG:D
