When going with VapersTek, would VG Nic mix and vape well with VG base, flavorings being the only PG(15% or so)? (looking for a smooth vape with a touch of flavor)

Or is there no big difference going with PG Nic?

I like PG nic, but I use high PG mixes. A lot of high VG people get PG because it's easier to mix with, easier to shake thoroughly and stores better than VG. But, a lot of people just prefer using absolute max VG that they can, too. It's just your personal preference, really. VG is thicker, yes, but you can warm it up a tad to make it easier to shake up.

Interesting, thanks Huckleberried, I will go with PG this time around and see how I like it.

You could even opt for a small bottle just to see how it goes. Would be a shame to get a liter of something that didn't work out well for you. Plus, I'm not a pro, I'm sure others will weigh in opinions, too.

I buy my nic in 100% VG, a liter at a time. Break it down to 120ml bottles, all kept in the freezer. When it's time for a mix session, I taken one of the bottles out first thing. By the time I've grabbed the flavors I'll use, the bottles, syringes, and put my recipes in the calculator, the bottle of nic is thawed enough to shake and mix easily enough. I mix my juice at 70VG/30PG, so 100% VG nic works well for me.

It's all I've used, though, so I have no point of comparison. FMMV

One thing to remember when you break it down into smaller bottles for storage is to give it a good shake whether it is PG or VG based. It would not be good to get one bottle with more nic than you were bargaining for...

A very important reminder! Something I do in practice but forgot to mention in my post.

This is the path I`m going down at this time, but wishing I would have purchased more flavorings to start out with.
I wanted max VG because I think for me the PG gives me a sore throat, and with my newer VD (vape device), VG works well.

I went with a small bottle of PG Nic and 5050 Nic from NudeNicotine. Going to see which I prefer.

Maybe next time I will try VG Nic rchmx, I have been surfing all over looking for reviews on using VG Nic and haven't found a thing. Glad to hear someone uses/enjoys it.
_____
I never had an issue with 5050 juices, I then got a 180ml of The MilkMan by OHW which is 80/20 vgpg(enjoyed it) now going back to 5050 and 6050 juices are harsh on the throat, Tolerable but I prefer the smoother VG feel. Ive got the OBS Crius RTA(0 wicking issues with high VG) and Velocity Clone RDA

Im starting out in DIY, kicking myself in the head for not doing this sooner. Im into the strawberry flavors, went to ecigexpress.com picking up the following(for other newbies)
Red Touch by Flavor Art
Sweet Strawberry by Capella
Strawberries and Cream Capella
Vanilla Custard Capella
Sucralose Sweetener
Fresh Cream Flavor Art
Catalan Cream Flavor Art
Vienna Cream Flavor Art
Some 30ml bottles, some 1ml and 5ml syringes
1 Liter VG and 120ml PG Nicotine and 120ml 5050PGVG Nicotine from NudeNicotine

....this should keep me happy lol

Also found this, not sure if its accurate but it sounds good for VG Based Nic users (PG based nic juice last up to 2yrs, VG based nic juice last for 10yrs. I prefer VG based because you never know how long the retailer had the nic juice before you bought it and 10 yrs s a hefty amount of keep time.)

EXCELLENT choices!! And a good idea on your nic. I can tell ya that all the bottles I've ever gotten from VT have a date stamp on them. Comes with lot info and papers, too.

Only thing I'll suggest with your flavors... FA Cookie and FA Vanilla Classic. TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust, too. (ECX calls their TFA "Signature")

Haha Huckleberried, noted!

A good concord grape vape sounds good haha
my vaping journey...I vaped with a very simple unit over a year ago (quit smoking for five months), then went back to cigs. ONE of the things that made me want to give vaping a try again was a fellow that handed me his VD at the smoke pit and said, "here try this"..no nicotine for him and a very powerful grape!

This stuff looks crucial http://www.blowingvapors.com/black-label-grapevine-e-liquid/

Some flavorings that received some good praise
http://vapingzone.com/VZ-Grape-E-Liquid/pid-271.html
http://vapingzone.com/Grape-Concentrated-Flavor/pid-466.html
http://vapable.com/product/grape-capella-flavour-concentrate/
http://www.capellaflavors.com/products/concord-grape-with-stevia-13ml.html

Although the user said its not a very strong grape flavor, its the best he has been able to DIY
30ml batch @ 12mg/ml with no PG other than what is contained in the flavoring.(more pg more flavor?)
7ml Capella's concord grape
2ml VZ grape
0.5ml Tasty Puff ghetto grape
1.5ml Capella Bubble gum
8 drops EZ Sweetz (liquid sucralose)

Keeping these noted for future endevours lol

Since I think there will be another newer person that read this... Choice on vg or pg base nic shouldn't mater unless your going for max vg. Since no one said it yet Nic bases normally are unflavored. For sure pg based nic is easier to work with for the pure factor of being able to shake it up every time prior to use and to use a highly acurate syringe. I always recommend, even when mixing by weight, to Atleast use a good measuring device to double check when adding nic.

I am still a little curious as to whether or not the throat hit in terms of the nicotine vary from a pg to vg base. I guess that would be pretty hard to determine lol. I should just go with VG for my Nic

I used to always get my nic in vg. As Huck mentioned though, I would warm it up good and give it a good shake to mix it well.

I picked up some pg 100mg from vaperstek back in October and now that's what I've been using.

I usually mix at either 70/30 or 75/25. Having gone from vg nic to pg nic all I can say is I can't tell a difference at all so it really boils down to personal preference. If you were going for max vg obviously go with vg nic. I dilute mine down into smaller bottles to 36mg just because it's much safer to work with and if I overshoot a bit in a mix I don't need to freak out lol.

Nic base really depends on the ratio your going for in the end. If your a bit flexible on the ratio, then might be able to get away with using either depending on how much the nic will be diluted. I like high vg since I hate the throat hit pg gives, I don't even buy it. My nic is VG based and the only pg in my mixes comes from the flavoring.

I have considered buying nic in PG just for easier mixing though. Buying at 100mg/ml and diluting down to 2mg/ml will only change the liquid by 2%, which is insignificant in my opinion. Flavoring can easily have a greater effect on the ratio.

I vape 80-85% VG, but I buy my nic in a PG base since it's easier to work with. I rarely go over 8% flavoring, and make my juice 3mg/ml, so the PG base works well for me.

I'm bias to VG nic. With that being said, I think the "PG base is easier to work with" is over played. VG nic really isn't much harder to work with. Shake it up good when you get it and after removing it from the freezer. If your using a syringe leave the needle off or get a large size.

I mix by weight and actually like the extra thickness of VG. When I mix, I add my nic first by pouring it straight from the bottle. Easy and simple nothing to cleanup. By adding the nic first if you add too much you can just pour some back. I guess this would work with PG also :p

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like PG based Nic is a safe bet, while being marginally easier to work with.

Also found this, not sure if its accurate but it sounds good for VG Based Nic users (PG based nic juice last up to 2yrs, VG based nic juice last for 10yrs.

I'm curious about this because I've heard (seen) just the opposite ... PG based nic being better for long term storage and if I'm not mistaken, PG does have a longer shelf life than does VG.

That said, when both are frozen I doubt the difference, if any, is very significant.

ETA: I said 'frozen' above but I just meant placed in the freezer since neither PG or VG nic solutions actually feeze solid.

Yeah, I just deleted that, wasn't correct lol.

Found this on NudeNicotine pertaining that, if interested. Few last points to cover – shelf-life varies largely by nicotine strength, as well as PG/VG ratio. Higher nicotine strengths will possess more nicotine molecules, less likely to be completely solvated by their carrier (PG/VG). Put simply – 100mg/mL formulations will keep for less time than a 24mg/mL formulation. PG is also a much better solvent for this purpose – it has an extremely low viscosity, will dissipate dispersed oxygen bubbles quickly (say that 4 times fast!), and has a longer shelf-life chemically (2 years from DOM, vs. VG – 1 year). Thus some may only see a short shelf-life for a 100mg/mL solution kept on a shelf compared to a 24mg/mL solution kept in multiple frozen aliquots. Remember, nicotine solution solvated in wither PG or VG WILL NOT FREEZE!
