I get my Nic from Myfreedomsmokes.com. Been very pleased with it. I get 48% but since I DIY 3-5mg it last forever. I store it in the freezer and haven't had any oxidation issues so far. I usually buy 240ml at a time, which will last a few months and I'm on my 3rd order.
Some of my MFS ( myfreedomsmokes) Nic ( a few litres of 100% VG 60MG ) is over two years old and in the freezer and like Wings fan, I take out what I think I need to use for a month or so and put the rest back in the freezer. Mine are in glass and are as clear as the day I bought them and not peppery tasting either.
Id love to try VT nic, but Im so invested in my MFS Nic that I will use it until It gets funky or I run out.
I have read from several sources in many threads and forums and on sites such as Wizard Labs and countless ECF discussions that Nic's shelf life in a freezer stored in glass should be at least 5 years, 2 years or so in plastic in the freezer, so Ive followed that rule of thumb and started off from the get-go putting all of mine in glass and straight to the freezer. Does it go bad or does it just loose strength, I dont know.
40 year old World War II can goods in C-Rations were still perfectly good in the mid and late 1970's , I know because I ate hundereds of them ( and smoked the non filter cigarettes in those C- rations as well..lol ) as well as the crackers and the chocolate in those rations. If these C- Rations were made today and canned the same way, they would probably
be given a two year shelf life, so I dont really know the answer and I seriously doubt anyone else knows here as well.
I dont think anyone here knows unless some sort of testing is done over a long period of time and with several different brands and in at least three types of conditions (moderate room temp, Freezer and refrigerator) . I think we would all like to see a report like that. I also think there is too much speculation without the facts to back it up. After a while, speculation becomes fact it seems on any forum or in todays world on several fronts. Without those facts, I would say to just be carefull and use your own judgement.
I agree with Byron that if it tastes good still and the smell is ok to you, it probably is still good. If its funky, throw it out.
I actually stopped using a certain brand due to funky smelling and tasting Nic after a short time of receiving it, as well as a batch that was bad right from the day I got it. By bad, I mean smelled like shit and was very peppery. Thats the extent of my scientific knowledge, " smells like shit" and "too peppery", although I do read everything I can get my hands on about the matter. Its my lungs and my body, so why not.
Without seeing some actual documentation of when its bad, why its bad, or how to test a smalll batch at home to see that it is bad, I will just rely on my own judgement. I also like to listen to what everyone here has to say about your own experiences with it and I will gauge my own experiences with yours....... sometimes.
Alright, Im rambling now. Im going back to my corner. Im done.
