I recently bought a VTC mini through efun and I'm wondering how the pass through charging works on it.. Is it smart charging? I have a charger and I will get another battery but I'm wondering how good that aspect of it is..

There's really nothing to it. Just plug it into any USB (Computer, wall, car, etc.), and vape away. It's not any different than portable vaping, you can just vape and charge at the same time. Good for road trips and sitting at home when you know you have a power source nearby.

So, technically, you don't need a spare battery and a charger... but, I have them, and yeah, it's good to have spares. One of my six already broke and wouldn't make proper contact in my VTC mini, so I'm glad I had backup.

Great to hear... Backups are always good to have just in case of situations like you just mentioned so I think I'll get a battery from the battery store that meets the proper specs after I get the mod... Since I didn't follow proper battery rules with the first one and vaped on it a little before it got a full charge..

I have LG HE2's, LG HE4's, and a Pair of eFest 35A 2800mAh... which are for "power vaping" I suppose.

Almost any 18650 will be fine. Some batts hold as much charge as 3500mAh! But even something simple like an HE4 (2500mAh) will give you a lot of vape time. Just make sure you get flat top, not button top

Just remember to buy good batteries, this is the one place that you don't want to take any shortcuts in vaping. The last thing you want is a cheap battery that doesn't perform well, and worst case, could be dangerous. Make sure that you are getting authentic batteries, there are a lot of clones out there.

I'm not sure what kind of battery you have right now, but I highly recommend the LG HG2 (3000mah) or the Samsung 25R (2500mah), they are exceptional 20 amp batteries. I get most of a full day of usage in the eVic-VTC Mini on an LG HG2. The Sony VTC4 and VTC5 are also exceptional, but at 30 amps, they are pretty much overkill in that mod. Make sure that any battery you get is rated at 20 amps or above. I also don't recommend the Efest batteries, even though they are kind of popular and a little cheaper than most others. Efest tends to use cheaper cells and their ratings have been proven to be over inflated in the past.

Make sure you get your batteries from a trusted source like http://liionwholesale.com/ (really popular source here in the forums). Don't ever get batteries from Ebay or Amazon, the presence of clones there is VERY high. If you are getting batteries from a local shop, ask if they can guarantee that they are selling authentic batteries, although even that isn't perfect. Many shops are ordering from suppliers that claim authentic, but turn out to be fakes. I got a couple of AWs at a local shop that swore they were authentic, but turned out to be clones. When I brought it to their attention, they immediately refunded me and found a new battery supplier (although NOT all shops are that responsive).

BTW ... It's very unlikely that you damaged the battery if you used it a little before charging it fully. You can get a lot of good information on battery safety and usage in the "battery junkies" forum here on VU.

I was gonna go into the Batteries & More store here to get the LG HG2 battery since I've heard from a recruiter at my station that that was a good spot for batteries..

Oh stop making this more complicated than it has to be :). Get a good authentic battery. If you go to a vape shop, or even a battery store, your chances of being duped with a clone are low. And they're cheap... so if you get a bad one, chuck it.

I highly recommend to NOT get a Nitecore battery. Avoid them. Get either a Samsung 25R, LG HE4 or (the best) LG HG2. Any of those will be safe and reliable.

There's no best battery. Whatever you like, whatever floats your boat.

Also, OP, you won an IPV D2? Cool! How?

Not true. Whatever battery somebody likes doesn't mean it's good or even safe for vaping in a high powered mod. The HG2 has the same 20 continuous amp rating as the 25R or HE4, but it will supply more mah in a regulated mod. For his application it's the best option out of the batteries I listed. Any of them will be head and shoulders above the Nitecore which is more suited to flashlights.

I'm still using my Samsung 25R for the moment since Illumn was out of the HG2s sadly but it does the job so far.. I love this little mod

Samsung 25R's kick butt. Honestly, those are all you really need. If you have 2 or 3 of them you'll be set. LG HG2 batteries have a little bit more juice but it's not a big difference. You're definitely right about the mod. I absolutely love it, too.

It is true, especially in the context of the posts above mine which speak of the dangers of having the wrong battery. Most work, but not all, we all know this. That said, some batts may post identical stats, but people swear the Samsungs work better than the LGs, or the Efest's work better than the Sony, or whatever... It's like iPhone versus Android... no one will ever agree.

Wot's an iphone?
Don't get me started. I have to temporarily use an iPhone since my androids screen busted on me. $50 is still cheaper than $100 screen plus shipping. It sucks. Bad.
