I have seen someone here at VU say sony is producing the vtc5's again but that is the one and only place ive seen that.

From what I know, sony hasn't made those for well over a year now. If those are real at vapordna, they are old and you wouldn't want them. If they are new, they are re wraps and fake and you don't want them.

Vapordna is down the road from me and they are a good shop, I doubt they are knowingly selling fakes, but they could have been sold the cells and told they were authentic or their just old.

Jon from liionwholesale is selling vtc5 now too, so I do believe they're back. Jon is a very active member here and every battery I've ever purchased from him has been good. Jon@liionwholesale is the man.

We have herad that for a year lol.

If you google sony vtc5 factory you can read up on it. It seems that from Sony, there is no production.

If someone is selling them, at best they are old stock.

I used those a few years ago and tossed my last one about 6 months ago as it was getting tired. As soon as I hear from Sony that they are back in production, I'll buy more for sure. But I don't want 2 or so year old cells that have built up internal resistance over the years and have lower discharge capability than some efire cell

Yeah, that's who i saw talking about it.
When sony publicly says they are back in production, I'll buy them. For now, I haven't seen anything from them stating they are in production.

They took a few billion yen (it's not as much as it sounds like) loss on their battery business a year or so ago, they have been cutting production of components that they are not making money in. I don't expect them to get back into a money losing segment of the market for them.

Ripping vapordna or repping vapordna? I have nothing against them, I think they are a good store.

This is from this month, no vtc5.

Here's a seller saying they are back and they tested them http://www.kidneypuncher.com/18650-battery-tests/

Who knows, you can find as many saying they are available as you can saying they are no longer being made. When Sony themselves say they are back in the biz I'll buy.
They had a multi million $ recall and their earnings have been very lean over the years so they probably dont want to continue a money losing segment of their business.
