Warranty Experiences Good and Bad Let's Hear Them

Unfortunately in the last few months I have been put in the position of having to experience several different warranty issues with several different manufacturers. Here are my experiences:

Innokin - Had a Coolfire 100 TC that I absolutely loved. Mod was light and comfortable and the board did TC very accurately. Issue with the mod was after about 6 months it refused to turn on. Contacted Innokin and they basically told me sorry your mod is out of the 90 day warranty and we really can't help you. Shame because I love the board but I don't think I will be purchasing anything Innokin makes again. FAIL

Vape Forward - Purchased a Classic. After about 7 months I started getting damaged atomizer message on every tank I used. Called VF and a live person answered the phone. They knew about the problem with the 510 that I was experiencing. I was honest with them and told them I know the mod is out of warranty but because of the form factor this was one of my favorite mods. I like the mod so much that I would be willing to pay for a factory repair as long as the repair price was reasonable. Rep said sorry for troubles but the best I could do is have you pay for shipping to us and we'll replace it with a refurb and pay for shipping back to you. I jumped at the chance and thought that was more than fair. When I received the refurb it had a little knick here and there like the rep said it would but it was definitely in better condition than the mod I exchanged for it. The new mod had a flatter finish as well that has proven to be more durable than the first. All in all I am very happy with the way VF handled this and I would never ever hesitate to buy a VF mod. WIN

Hohmtech - After a really long wait on a preorder for the Slice I received one of the 2 I ordered. I received the black one and as soon as I fired it the firing button stuck. I called the place I ordered it from (The Cloudy Vapor) and while they were very supportive they had me contact HT with the promise that they would back me up on whatever the outcome was. I called HT and a rep actually answered the phone there too. The rep explained to me that new buttons were coming to fix the problem and that they were indeed aware of it. He said the new buttons would be in in about 3-4 weeks. I said that's unacceptable and a bit of a heated exchange ensued. I could hear someone in the background saying give me the phone I want to talk him, give me the phone. The next thing I heard was Hi, this is Ben I'm the Director of Operations for Hohmtech how can I help you? I explained to him that I waited long enough on the pre order and it's bad enough my red one has been delayed but now you want me to wait 3-4 weeks on the one I already have in hand to be fixed. He was very cordial and asked me what I wanted. I said I just want what I paid for, a black Slice and a red Slice. I said look you're the Director of Operations right? He said yes. I said so you have a little pull in that company right? He chuckled and said yes. Well, why can't one of your Tech's go in the back, crack open a black mod, check the button and send it to me? He said is that all you want? I said yes. He asked if it was ok to send out 2 brand new mods the black and the red and I said sure. Two days later I had both the black and red Slice in hand. That day I had a prepaid printed label from HT so I could send back the faulty mod. Ok, so this one took a little prodding but all in all I am very happy with the end result. I would not hesitate to buy another HT product because of this positive experience and the access to the upper levels of management in this company. WIN

Evolv - I bought a VT133 about 9 months ago. By far it's my favorite DNA. For the last couple of days the mod has been acting up. It has been draining the batteries when left idle and has been hitting like a wet noodle. Opened up a ticket with Evolv over 48 hours ago and I have still not received a response. Kind of unpleasantly surprised that Evolv has yet to answer a ticket that has been open for 48 hours. From all the hype I've heard about Evolv I definitely expected a much prompter response. If I do not hear from them by the end of today I will locate a # and attempt to call them. Lets see what happens. PENDING

Would love to hear other warranty experiences on the different companies out there good and bad.

VT133 - ordered 2, one of them took a shit after 2 weeks. went through the store i got ir from (ecig.com) shipped it back to them, a week later they confirmed it was bad and since they no longer had stock they issued me a refund which I used to buy a G2 and Smok TFV8 tank and some misc supplies

Hohmwrecker G2 - brought 3 of them. One took a shit after a few weeks. went through hohmtech instead of the supplier (ecig.com) ID why, just did lol. Had to pay 8 bucks for a warranty repair. sent it in, they responded fast and frequently and kept me in the loop. They couldn't duplicate the issue but went ahead and replaced my 510 pin and the FSK board and updated me to the latest firmware that was just released. got it back (total length of time about 2 weeks from when i shipped it out to when i got it back) has worked like a champ ever since.

Vape royalty - I've purchased from this site a few times and have had pretty bad luck. a few years ago I got an eleaf 70 watt mod. Forget which one, Didn't work out of the box. They ask you to send proof before they can issue an RMA. I sent them a video showing the issue. They issued the RMA but said they had a lot of issues with it and asked if i'd take store credit instead. I agreed sent it back and got the store credit in a few days. Used it on a IPV mini V2 70 watt. worked great since day 1. Still have it. Just don't use it anymore cause I prefer dual battery mods.
Then a 2nd time I ordered an xcube 2 from them. again it came kinda DOA. had issues with TC since day 1, then a few days later it wasn't reading my Attys. I contacted them, they responded asking for proof. Sent them a video and told them about my experience last time. this time they said just keep the mod and sent me a new one as well. didn't have to ship back the old one. Then i got advice here to flash it and reinstall the firmware. Did that and it fixed the issue and i got the new one from them. I told them and they said don't worry just keep it. So i gave it away to friend eventually.

TFV4 - got the tank from a local B&M, it came with a cracked glass lol. I went over there and they gave me a new glass and took the cracked one back and threw it out

So overall I'd say ecig.com and Hohmtech do great jobs. Vape royalty is not bad either. B&M is always good cause convenience.

I will say though overall i have shit luck lol. Even in the contest here, i won 3. 1 went smooth, 1 i got hit with the fed ex fee (was the 1st to get it) and the 3rd a month later i still don't have the item and it's on the way back to china cause they addressed it wrong lol. So i just shake off stuff. Buying from good companies and good sites is important. QC on vaping stuff seems pretty poor across the board.

I have dealt with provape, yihi, cravingvapor and vaporshark for warranty claims,

with vaporshark it was during the dna40 fiasco, each time it was a phone call followed by a no questions asked exchanges. I had 6 of their dna40 mods and of the 6, four of them were exchanaged for new models due to the infamous "screen glitch"
on another occasion I had a mod cerekoated and finished by Darren at ocd mods, vaporshark swapped out the board on that one at no charge, despite admitting to them that the warranty would be void with evolv.

with yihi I had one of the first run sc mini m class mods and the finish was flaking off within a week I called vapin art, and he sent me a new one with a return label for the flaked one. - literally zero down time with the mod.

provape I have had several experiences.
I have 5 provape mods, 4 of which have had to be repaired. the first three experiences were terrible. The first time was the worst, it took 3 weeks and 20 dollars to change a screen protector on a mod that was a few weeks old.
the second time, it took a month and 70 dollars to change a board.
the third was a ten dollar one week 510 issue
after that I did not buy a mod from them for 2 years. when I finally bought the 50w Procyon a few months back they were amazing with the customer service. I called in asking for an o-ring for the 510 and the manager sent me a new mod, with return shipping label for the one I have and a bag of 50 O-rings(at my request).
evidently the issues they had with their customer service were remedied. I was literally blown away.

with craving vapor, I dropped a hecohm v2.1 off of a bacony and it was fne... about 3 months later I went to adjust the springs on the battery sled and one of them snapped. I called in to them and they sent me a shipping label. a week later the mod came back repaired at no cost.

guess ive been lucky since I'm hard on my mods. this is one reason that I try to buy the mods I do.

I have had pretty good luck considering all the different mods I've been through.

Evic VTC Mini 60w - one of my first non pen vape, it started giving me the atty short message and then one day just stopped working. Called My Vapor store and even though it was out of warranty they replaced it with an IPV D2 and included a battery. Great service.

Vape Forward - I was having issues with the mod picking me out of TC. Called VF and was honest, told them I was the second owner. The stout was also out of warranty but they offered to send an RMA so they could replace or repair it. Matt, the rep I spoke with asked me to revert back to the older firmware and then update it. Did it and worked like a charm.

My VS DNA200 has a bad button and the rubber coating is nearly gone so I'll be dealing with them soon. I don't care about the finish, just want the button repaired. I did call awhile ago and the rep I spoke with instructed me to purchase the diagnostic service and send it in. I'll update if I ever get around to sending it back:

Two warranty claims in my vape history. Once with VapeRoyalty.com and one with Beyondvape. Both excellent experiences no hassle, took care of me and fixed the issue.

I have had a few, and they have been good.

First, my Hotcigs. I received a V1 as my first DNA200, and this broke the day I got it. Gearbest was no help, and Hotcig didn't seem to be either. Luckily Evolv helped me, and replaced the board.

I was not aware though, due to the trouble I had been through, Bennett from hotcig had sent me out a free V2 hotcig- when this turned up I was a bit shocked as I had not ordered it, but checked my emails and it was him that had sent me it.

Unfortunately-this one also broke, so Evolv again replaced the board in the V2.

Next was an Xcube 2 I purchased from moonvapez. I had it a few months, and the screen started to work intermittently- they told me to send it to them. I did, and then there was some trouble with them saying they can't do anything. After a lot of phone calls and fobbing off, they sent me a new Xcube- only for me to get the original one back, they hadn't even picked it up from the post office.

Finally, I got a Sigelei book for my partner, this broke after just 3 weeks, MyEpack took this back and refunded me straight away though.

So, I have generally had good experiences with warranties, and with the amount of devices I have I am quite happy it has only been 4 I have had issues with.

Luckily I haven't had to deal with too many warranty issues with my vaping gear.

I did have one nice experience though. I bought a Geekvape Griffin 22mm a while back. Didn't get around to opening it up and checking it out for a month or two, only to find that one of the post screws was completely and utterly stuck, making the tank unusable. I sent an email off to Geekvape, and while it took about 2 weeks, I did get a nice email back apologizing for the issue, asking for some pictures etc to document the problem. Sent those along, and a few weeks later received a replacement base, which is fully operational. So that was a good experience. I appreciated their customer service on the one occasion I had to deal with them.

I also had a good experience with Geekvape. I lost this tiny peek insulator part to the Avocado 24. Was washing the tank out and it slipped out right in to the sinks drain hole. Dooh! I emailed them and about 5 days later they responded and mailed me a new part no charge even though I was more than willing to pay for it since it was lost due to my stupidity.

On the other hand I had an Ijoy Limitless chuff cap just flat out melt and become disfigured after a bout of chain vaping. Ijoy gave me a smart ass response to my email. They offered to replace it free of charge if I was willing to pay $20 for shipping. Stupid move on their part as I had an Ijoy Lux on pre order. I promptly cancelled my order and I have sworn off any Ijoy/Limitless products for the near future. One of the main reasons I refuse to order an XL tank and haven't bought anymore Limitless Genny style tanks.

Out of all my MOD's the only one I had an issue with which was cosmetic and not functional was the Movkin Disguiser 150W. After contacting support they asked that I provide a video of the issue with the display which I thought that a picture was enough to show the problem. So I sent a video and received a very grateful email from Quality Control plus a new MOD in less that 3 days from China. Great company to deal with. Oh one other thing was they did not want the one back with the display issue. It has a slight paint issue with the display which was only visible in left hand mode.

Yeah well, I don't know what everyone is talking about when they say Evolv has great customer service. Opened a ticket on the 8th for my VT133 because it will not hold a charge. Took evolv 4 days to answer the the initial question on the ticket. Their advice was to install the firmware that was previous to my last update. Did that and I still have the same problem. Told Evolv that 3 days ago and I have yet to hear back from them. So on a ticket I opened on the 8th its now 10 days later and I have no resolution. They have no contact # on their website. I found a # to their offices in Ohio. Called the # and low an behold you get an answering machine. Left a message yesterday and I still have yet to get a call back. Not what I was expecting from Evolv especially after so many people here swear by their customer service.

Strange. I had a question about my VT75 and sent them a message last night and they replied this morning. I hope I don't end up with any real issues. That blows you are getting the run around, stay on them.

I am shocked. I really hate it when companies insulate themselves from customer interaction. Not having a working # on your site that basically acts as a black hole is a huge red flag to me. If you have a ticket system that takes 4 days to get a reply, to me that's not great customer service. Very dissapointed in Evolv.

ive never used evolv's customer service, everything has gone through the modder with them.
I heard a lot of mixed results when the dna40 stuff was going on. The one common thing that everyone said was, that they handled it all at no cost. some said they just didn't handle it fast, others said it was pleasant to deal with them.

Only used warranty once, and that was for my vape forward stout, it would misfire straight out of the box, instead of going to the vendor, I went straight to vape forward in case it was a bug that could be fixed at home, within a few hours I had a return email with a RMA and self addressed label to send the old one back, they was very quick to send the new one out, sent it back to them over the weekend, and by Friday I had the replacement stout, was very impressed with the customer service, no jumping through hoops to get it sorted.

Yeti Vape, Vape Royalty, Vape NW, ECiggity.
All have taken care of me in an outstanding manner.

SX Mini M with the lousy paint job. Yihi rep said "fuck off" more or less. Yeti took it back and replaced it with a good one. I don't think I even paid shipping back to them.

Crown tank with lousy leak (more than my usual). Crown wanted video, wanted me to prove it was wicked 'properly', etc. Vape Royalty said send it back. I did, and the USPS took it to a vacant lot (said so on the tracking site). Vape Royalty laughed and sent me a new one. The defective one came back to me after about 3 weeks.

Bachelor tank with inoperable airflow. ECiggity asked for my order number and had a new tank to me in 3 days.

STM airflow base wouldn't read any coil. Emailed Vape NW, they asked a couple questions and sent a new base. Didn't have to return the old one.

All except the SX Mini M were a few months old when they failed, so I was happy that they were taken care of at all. That they were put those vendors at the top of my list when I'm shopping.
