I saw that, my Standard Schnauzers are bad, even the groomer has trouble cutting them:facepalm:

The last time they did them, I noticed they didn't cut them as much. Idk, they had to take him in the back room and put a muzzle on him. He was so worked up his gums were bright red.

They are careful not to get close to the quick in the nail, they don't cut a lot off my dogs either....now they are somewhat too long all the time.
Black nails are the hardest to judge because you can't see the quick, she does get them down a bit more with the grinder/dremel tool so they are passable...LOL

If you look at the bottom side of the nail, it's usually got a white strip, even on black nails. You can see the quick there.

With theirs I tend to let the groomer do them , but yes that's a way to see , your right!!
