What % flavor?

Afternoon all!

So I was looking over a calculator for the mix Im going to do when my supplies come in. I see a lot of recipes here have a LOT of different flavorings, but Im going to be working with just 2. That being the case would I want to just equal my two flavors to 10%? I see a lot of posts saying with the FA coffee espresso to not use more than 4% or so. Any tips on how I'd go about this? And what % would you say to dilute the VG with distilled water? 10%? 20%? Thanks!!

Percentages run all over the place depending on brand and flavor.
With new flavors it is best to make small samples of individual flavors starting low, (like 1-2%) to find the % that works best for you.
You don't want to start with 10% on most flavors.

Yeah I didnt think that sounded like a good idea Im going to be using FA coffee espresso and FA Vienna Cream. Maybe 3% espresso and 4% cream? I've heard the espresso is REALLY strong, but Idk about the cream

FA espresso IS strong... I'd try it at 1% and see what you think.
1% is strong to me and I'll only use half a percent in my mixes.

I use FA Espresso at 1% or less. It's strong strong. I use Vienna usually at 2% or less, but 3% is fine, for me.

To some people it would and to others it wouldn't.
I'd make a small sample (3-6mls) to find out what % YOU like.
If you make 30mls of awful juice and keep adding trying to make it right you will end up with lots of juice that may or may not be to your liking.

Most do shake and vape with FA actually.
It will get better in a couple of days but it should be ok to vape right away.

I agree. Most FA is really good shake and vape. Sure, some do meld better after a day or so. Depends if it's big complex recipe, a spiced recipe... If I have something with more than a few flavors, it's usually better in a couple days, but still, pretty good from the get go.

I agree - most of them are shake and vape, and I think it's because the percentages are generally so low! And like Huck said, some may be better after a couple of days, but they're usually vapeable right away. And that espresso is really, really strong - to me! I'd start very, very low and using small samples till you find what you like (3ml-6ml).

not everything is listed there but you get the idea with it. then looking into some of the more complex recipes you get a good feel on what percentages to use for what flavors/companies

also i think the vaperstek nic base has a lot to do with shake n vape working so well

NexDeus, have you read HIC's flavor reviews in the DIY reviews forum? Not only are those excellent information, but the discussion of those flavors are really great tools. Of course, nothing teaches better than finding for yourself what tastes you prefer, but the reviews are really are excellent. I use them all the time.

Whenever I diy a new flavor I always make a micro batch of 2mls with my flavor being no more than .7ml. There is no "set %" for flavors, it all depends on personal choice and the flavor used. Some are stronger than others. I have one vanilla custard blend were I am only using .5ml for the whole 30ml bottle.
As far as dilution start off with 1-2 drops of DW per 1mil of juice. Then adjust it according to your own needs. I also sometimes dilute with triple distilled vodka.

All my blends are at 30-35% flavoring.

I always shake and vape no matter what flavors I mix. I subohm around .2 so I go thru 60-90mls of juice a week. I don't have time to steep hahaha

As a relative nooby, I have been looking up recommended percentages for each of me flavors and starting there. I think it's a good average starting point and usually I only have to adjust up or down once if at all. The pioneers have done most of the work for us. Starting at 1 or 2% and moving up is probably a good idea but I'm lazy.

I believe HIC, who uses max VG, does dilute his by 10% for use in a tank. (I use 50/50 so no need to dilute!)

Yeah, I hear anything from 10 to 20% around the threads. I'm high PG, though, so like Amanda, no need to dilute.

That coffee espresso is a strong one. I been messing around with coffee vapes a lot but I learned from HIC's recipes here they are good ones to mix up, see how strong flavors are and even what happens with them over a few days. Even if you find flavors weak in general I would definitely start low with that coffee espresso lol.

I shake and vape everything FA, even tobaccos. The tobaccos or a mix with more then a few flavors are the only ones of FA I have ever noticed to change much steeping.

For the beginner or the veteran HIC's flavor reviews are a valuable tool.
