What is "dripping"?

Newbie here, yadda, yadda, yadda... what is dripping?

I keep hearing the term, especially by the DIY'ers but can't seem to find out what it is?

My wife and I started vaping about a week ago, and I'm disabled and have Asperger's so I tend to research things to death, but this one is eluding me.

I am getting interested in DIY juice to be able to save even more money and dial in flavors that we like and we are sharing an EVOD 2 kit that came with 2 batteries and have a bunch of EVOD 2 tanks all loaded with different flavors, but that is the extent of our investment so far.

Dripping is just using an atomizer without any kind of tank. You have to manually'drip' the juice onto the wick.
It's definitely more work but you can also change flavors more rapidly and generally has a much higher volume of vapor production.

I love my dippers.

With rebuildable dripping atomizers (RDA) like Ace posted, you can dial it in as you like with your own coils and with the amount of wicking in there, you can get quite a bit of juice in. I'd say 10-20 drops is pretty average.


Of course, there is the old 510 atomizer as well.

Although it is not rebuildable and does not hold much, it is pretty cheap and easy.


All told, drippers have some of the best flavor too.

Those atomizers, that was my favorite thing to test new juices with. Rebuildable atty's were quite a big step up.

Interesting, so it looks like I'd have to get a different setup since there wouldn't be any way that I can see to get from the "chimney" to the tip on my Kanger EVOD 2 setup.

How long does it take for a wick to go through the previous flavor to clear out before you can really get a clean taste of the next flavor if you are trying to tweak flavors?

Right now we have just been dedicating separate tanks to each flavor so that we only have to switch the tank. Wife has accidentally screwed off the tank body from the tank itself instead of the battery a couple of times though but otherwise we are really happy with them.

Thanks for the welcomes, have to thank my daughter who suggested that I try the eCigs. My wife and I had quit for about 8 years, then I started back up again about 3 months ago because of a lot stress dealing with disability insurance, SSDI, and medical finances since I'm on full disability now after my second back surgery back in Jan 2013. Also have to apologize if I ask the same question a couple of times or need some clarifications as I have a precursor to Alzheimer's.

If you make juice yourself, you can drip pure PG or VG or your wick to get out the old flavor. Then just vape it until it dries, and go on to the next flavor.

Okay, so not sure why I wasn't able to find this earlier, guess it was just the order of the words in my searches... but it looks like I need a different kind of atomizer for dripping. Given the amount of vapor in the air at the shop I bought my kit from, I'd be surprised if they don't have the right atomizers.

Bill, If you are investigating "Dripping" primarily as a means with which to more easily test juices there are lots of options for you out there but keep in mind that most of them are designed for Mega Vapor clouds and Mega Flavor but require you to build the coils yourself and depending upon how you build the coils will require you to have special batteries and Mods. If all you want is an easy way to test Juices while still using your EVOD battery, your best option may be the 510 atomizer that CaFF suggested. It will work with your existing battery just fine and is an inexpensive alternative for you.

Yeah, it seems everyone is into "cloud chasing" nowadays. So, thre are MANY fancy RDA's made for that...usually with low-ohms in mind.
But, you CAN get an inexpensive RDA and built it with higher Ohms so it can be used on your Evod. IF you want to build your own coils.

If not, then the 'ol 510 atomizer is a good option. It doesn't need wicks or anything, you just drip a few drops into it and vape. When you're tired of that flavor, just "dry burn" the juice out (by carefully firing the mod until the atomizer's coil is near glowing and there's no juice left - not too much or you'll "pop" your coil.) and start with a new flavor.

I'd be careful dry-burning on a Evod battery though, they don't have much power.
Probably want to use a 1.8-2.4 ohm atty too. I don't think the Evod has the power for a 1.5 ohm coil, but I could be wrong.

These are good 510 atomizers for the money, IMHO.

So I just finished watching a video on the 510 and it looks like it will suit my needs perfectly and cheaply.
