I've been noticing this issue for quite some time now and decided to post it up here and see if I'm the only one that feels this way...

Why are mod designs so masculine? :gaah: No offense to the gents out there, I'm sure y'all love the designs. But, where are the prettier, fancier, blingier (is that a word?) mods for the ladies????

I love getting new mods, but I am sick to death of them all being these unattractive, boxy, futuristic, robotic, techno designs. :cuss2:Not to mention the same 6 bold colors... silver, black, grey, blue, red, and green. Once in a while they'll throw a purple into the mix. Well, really it's fuchsia, but China calls it purple .

The current market designs weigh very heavily to the masculine side... probably 90% masculine and only 10% more feminine designs. Has the industry forgotten that WOMEN VAPE TOO? That some of us lady vapers might like a more feminine, fancier mod? Why not some softer shapes, fancy laser etching, a few blingy stones, some glittery paint, or some pastel colors? What lady wants to go to a fancy special event, wedding, or out on a date with something that looks like it came out of a 22nd century spaceship in her hand?!? I sure as heck don't! :gaah:

So there ya have it... that's how I feel ... I hope I'm not alone in feeling this way. Hopefully some of the mod manufacturers like Kangertech, Innokin, eLeaf, Aspire, or Smok will get it together and make something a little more special for us lady vapers.

Yep, yep, yep!! Me, too Pami. I'm sitting here looking at the ones I have out, and they're either jwrapped, or one of the colors you mentioned. Jwraps is awesome, no doubt, but sometimes you just want a better selection than what is offered on a mod, without spending extra money only to change the color of it. When "cyan" was offered on some mods, people went nuts for them, even guys liked them.

We want a selection of stuff. I don't need a mod that looks like a gun handle, don't need several different mods, all in the same color... just more choices of the ones I do like.

Did I see the Wismec Reuleaux in cyan and white? Don't know if the device is any good, but I really think I saw that...

Also for MTL, jeez what piece was that, Joyetech or Innokin, yeah Innokin Endura Prism T18 and T22 tanks come in aqua and pink with a nice but subtle etched design near the top of the tank. I think you can get those in kits, too.

Not sure how it will be for longevity, but I really love the look of my eLeaf Pico Resin mod. It's all swirly blue, green, gold. I had another that was orange, red, purple, gold, but I gave it to my son's girlfriend because she gushed over it. I think I read that the eLeaf Picos have problems with the firing button.

Oh and I saw something the other day in rose gold and it was gorgeous. Will have to try to remember what that was. ETA: It was an Aspire Odyssey Mini kit, both the mod and the tank in Rose Gold. I had a stainless one, and liked the mod but hated the tank (Triton Mini) until yesterday. Remember? :) But I gave the mod to my sister because she broke hers, and she promptly broke the Pegasus too. She's like that with vaping hardware.

Last year I bought a bunch of blown glass drip tips from a guy on eBay. They're beautiful and will dress up nearly anything you put them on.

Oh also very feminine - KangerTech Kbox Mini Platinum, only 60w but adequate for me, slim, would be great for small hands, nicely finished, cheap as hell at eightvape.

But you're right, those pieces are few and far between. "Badass Spaceship" seems to be the norm. And some of them are so big, I think I'd have cramps in my hands from holding them!

I agree in general, but I've made a point of seeking out mods, driptips, wraps, or etc, that aren't so "big whompin badass" pretty much since I started -- I got really sick of stainless and black in the first couple months.

mygirlymods.jpg

The first two were custom-etched by Phiniac, back in 2015 when they still etched vape gear; they don't any longer. The 3rd (purple), and the 5th and 6th are wraps. The 4th is just a nice white minibook, with a lovely floral driptip that @JuicyLucy PIFed me a while back -- still one of my faves!

Of course, when we get our fed tax refund, I'm going to order the Halloween version of the Aegis, and that one is pretty "big whompin badass"... but since it's waterproof and shock-proof, it's a good choice for a klutz like moi. :teehee: I already acquired an orange and black driptip to go with it, so this year, at Halloween, I'll have a Halloween mod!

I think it is merely because men are doing all the designing - I know a custom modder who I'd done business with before contact me about a mod he had in mind to make just for me - of course, the frosted pink door clashed with with cyan button

Yeah, I'm familiar with all the ones you mentioned... but to me they are still masculine at the base design. I actually have a couple of them. The Rx200 comes in Cyan/White... I got the purple plates for mine. It looks good... but 3 batts is very heavy for someone with carpal tunnel. Yes, I do remember your dilema with the Triton mini ;) I had a Pegasus mini myself that I sold here in our Trading Post.

We have similar taste in mods... you've seen my collection... every mod or wrap matched up with a drip tip. And I like internal, single, and on the rare occasion dual batteries. I loved my purple CoolFire 4 to death, have a spare in the drawer. I put a white glitter Jwrap on my white Sigelei Mini Book ;). I use my Red book daily. But I use my Subox mini's the most.

Well that's another thing - WTF - while I love pink, I don't like some of these more modern pinks with all the red in them -

And another :wtf: Not all women like pink anyways

We need softer designs - most of the more feminine, less bold designs are whimpy starter mods with no oomph

I'm a low wattage vaper but still can tell when something is gutless :poop:

Pink and Cyan... that's quite a combo... lol :D I do have my cameleon custom Nasy... but I'm afraid to use it too much, don't wanna mess up the etching.

there are tons of mods that aren't boxy...they just cost alot more money than the chinese crap...I suspect that design follows function....they are building mods that are easy, and cheap to manufacture, in order to maintain good profits and provide people with inexpensive mods.but if you go on any high end facebook page there are many many mods that look like moderen sculptures that belong in a museum.

@always9988 has been saying they need “prettier” gear for a while now.

I completely agree with her. Skulls, black and angular is great. I love to see more options that she and the other ladies would find aesthetically appealing.

And while we are :soapbox:

I think it is utter :bs: to have buy a Jwrap to make a mod that resembles a machine gun or Robby the Robot look less manly

Some mods I've seen end up looking like a very manly drag queen with 5 o'clock shadow o_O

Remember when Innokin came out with the MVP Shines?... That's what I'm a talking about, a little bling or dazzle, softer colors, but with today's capabilities. I had 3 of the 4 designs and loved them all. Maybe I should just contact Innokin and ask them to re-release the line in a subohm edition :D

I do love my CF4 collection! I have a fair mix of internal/integrated-battery and external battery mods, which seems the most sensible way to handle that conundrum of "internal or external?" But I bought my purple one used, and it's a little flaky, turning itself off unexpectedly, or just won't fire sometimes.. *sigh* Really provoking; I'd love to find another purple one, but they're either impossible to find, or way too expensive for a 2000mah internal-battery mod that came out 3 yrs ago! I'd love to find a black one, too -- i have quite a few interesting looking black driptips, mostly acrylic, a few metallic, that would look very nice with a black mod -- which I do use when the garments-of-the-day call for it -- that's how I usually decide which mod/driptip to be using on a given day, how well it goes with whatever I'm wearing. And that's a wholly female consideration, though in most ways I'm not really "girly" at all. :giggle:

My red, black, and 2 white minibooks are by FAR my most-favored mods -- the size/weight, the clever battery door, and the fact that it has a USB for charging, if I have a brainfart abnd don't put a fresh battery in, when leaving the house -- not very common, but has been known to happen once or twice. I really like using the white ones; since I much prefer acrylic driptips, it's very easy to find a driptip that looks good with a plain-white mod!

the other thing is that it maybe simpley more men vape....and especially it seems the industry is geared toward very young men. for instance it used to be like mech tube mods were designed to be elegant, they looked like jewlery....that elegance seems to have disappeared with the advent of cloud chucking power packs. Those elegant tube mods transfered over to either men or women equally well.

Two of you mentioned minibooks - I wanted one of those, and now I can't find one anywhere for less than $40. I bought my sister one, and I loved that battery door. Just recently saw a pic of them in that beautiful red color, and I'd have bought one in a New York minute, but they were out of stock.

That is absolutely true. The mechs I just packed up, some of them are just beautiful. I just apparently am not savvy enough to get them to work worth a damn. I have a stainless and a copper Celtic mod, and a blue bamboo Infinite clone. All three of them look really nice. Even the 26650 Chi You is beautifully shiny and has neat Asian-style engraving on it.

Andria, you have just lit the lightbulb in my head. I have tax money coming from the state, whenever they get a round tuit. Imma get me a Mt. Baker Vapor special edition Kabuki. Yes ma'am!

I always heard good things about the Kabuki from those who enjoyed a tight-draw, which is the hardest thing to find anymore... but there was something about it that held me back from trying it... I think 1) the price, they were really costly when they first came out, and 2) they aren't rebuildable, are they? I got into building coils before I had vaped for 3 months, and just don't wanna go back to buying them; it offends my tightwad sensibilities. ;)

That red really is STUNNING! I was so mad, I was so busy and bothered xmas day, I dropped mine on the tile floor and dinged the edge -- first damage I've managed to inflict to any of my minibooks, they're WELL enameled, better than cars! I need to find a deep lustrous red nail polish and touch that up, because that red soothes my soul or something. :D

If you do get one, there's a "secret" to inserting the battery without dinging the battery wrap -- put the battery in before you attach the atomizer. ;)

The Kabuki uses Nautilus coils. I started on this kick when I got a clone from FT. All that did was make me want one of the real ones. Even the clone is wonderful. I have problems with getting airflow right, and this thing has an airflow screw that you adjust with an allen wrench that comes with the tank. You put it where you want it, and it stays there. The thing does not leak AT ALL, the dang coil doesn't get stuck in the chimney, it is a model of simplicity and functionality, and it vapes like it's right between MTL and DTL - flavor plus a decent amount of vapor. I'm just crazy about it.

I think mechs appeal most to the "tinkerers"... those who don't mind having to fiddle-fuck around with something just to get it to work. I've got a couple in my vapocalypse stash, and they're both pretty nice-looking mods -- a "Fallen Angel", and a Galileo -- but, you're absolutely right, getting them to work consistently is more trouble than they're worth, if I have ANY other option for vaping -- such as a regulated box mod!

yep, the most extensive and beautiful collection of mech mods I've seen in the last 5 years is owned by a woman.....Personally the current design in mods does not impress me as being Manly...on the contrary..the remind me of Toy Story.....to infinity and beyond.

Back in the day I had a Kabuki and love it, but man, I was not happy about the price

When the clones finally came out I was stunned - they were truly 1/1 - the only difference was the OG had copper pin, the clones had SS

With the high ohm aspire coils, I don't think the copper vs SS made any difference

It was one of the very few 1/1 clones I've ever tried - I am convinced they came out of the same factory and they merely subbed the cheaper SS pin

That actually sounds promising, except the part about Nautilus coils -- is it a single or dual coil atty? I've never liked dual coils in any format, not even cartos; they're just too hot and change the flavor of the juice too much.

My Achilles RDAs are much the same with "set it and forget it" with the little Allen key on the bottom -- and VERY tight-draw that NEVER leak, unless 1) an o-ring goes kaput (which actually happened to one of mine a couple weeks ago), or 2) I overfill. It's kind of a compromise atty, because yes it's an RDA, but with bottom-airflow, tight-draw, and holds 2.5ml that never leaks. Best of both worlds!

Pardon me for saying, but that Galileo is a DOG, imo. Good god, that thing might as well be a brick. There's so much "interference" in each end between the battery and the button, and the battery and the atomizer contacts, I never got one single decent hit off the thing. Of all the mechs I have, I think this thing called a Riva probably vaped best, and it was because it was telescoping. You could actually get it to fire fairly reliably, that is, when the bottom button wasn't unscrewing itself and coming loose from the tube. The Galileo is telescoping, too, right? But I think you lose a lot of voltage with the way the ends of the thing are built.

Current Nautilus coils are single vertical coils, I do believe. They last a good long time, though, unless you use a lot of really dark, sweet juice.

I think mechs appeal most to the "tinkerers"... those who don't mind having to fiddle-fuck around with something just to get it to work

As a hard core mech user - it's completely the opposite for me

Do a solid build, and your mech works perfectly, all day, every time

I hate messing with wattage mode in regulated mods - some I had to pull out the instruction manual (Sigelei Coolfire 4 is a good example) just to bump the wattage up or down a smidge - utterly frustrating beyond the beyonds

EDIT: With a solid build on a mech, it hits perfectly and so there is no need to go up or down, the coil is controlling what the battery does automatically

Yep both of mine are telescoping; I realized I preferred that after I had a Sigelei Zmax flat-top for a while. Actually I found the Galileo somewhat better than the Fallen Angel; the magnetic button is pretty stout, so it can stand upright without auto-firing. But both of them, since they're mech and have no handy-dandy screen, if they're not working right, the only thing you can do is take it all apart and put it back together and hope that helped. Maddening. At least a regulated mod gives you SOME information about whatever is happening or not happening.

HOW DID YOU DO THAT?

I looked and looked! Seriously! Thank you!
There's a reason they call me the "Link Ninja" ;) ... You are quite welcome :)
I've never ordered from that particular shop, but I've never heard anything bad about them either.

I just want the ability to adjust the vape up or down, on the fly -- which a regular mech just doesn't offer, and even with the Kicks I put in mine, isn't really convenient to adjust "on the fly".

I see the appeal of both..regulated devices don't have the gradual decline in power...you don't have to be cleaning contacts every week....mechs...they feel good in the hand, they are dependable, you can fix them yourself they are nearly indestructable and the hit great.

A couple of things I did learn from mechs. First, don't use the cheapass battery chargers that come with cheapass kits. I overcharged a battery once and if I hadn't jerked it out of the tube when I did, it would probably have blown up in my face. Second, don't tighten down the ends of the mech too tight. That will also make a battery overheat. One thing is - when they start to overheat, you know it, and I mean RIGHT NOW. Scared me half to death.
