What's the difference between a Mech Mod & a Hybrid Mech Mod?

A hybrid mod comes with its own atomizer and that's the only one that will work with it.

A hybrid top cap mod has a top cap that allows a standard 510 atomizer to connect direct to the battery. Less voltage loss but you have to use an atomizer with a positive pin that protrudes past the 510 connection that threads into the mod. If that positive pin is flush you will short your battery.
Most new atty's positive pin does extend past the base of the 510 but most of the older designs do not.

A mod with a regular top cap with adjustable firing pin is probably best to start out with, that makes the mod a little taller but is safer.

Cool. Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. No hybrid for me at the moment.

Yeah, just getting started with mechanicals I would look for a recessed button so you can't forget to lock it and a regular non hybrid top cap.

With the box mod frenzy this year there are many to choose from and you can get a more than capable variable watt, no fuss box mod for under $100.
If you are going to use a clearomizer or higher resistance rebuildable like a kayfun you can even get away with a 20 watt VW for under $50.

That would make it easier because you can adjust wattage to match the coils resistance instead of a mechanical where you have to find (or build) a lower resistance coil to match the voltage.

Most if not all regulated/variable watt or whatever you want to call it shouldn't fire if there is a short so in that respect they are also safer. They will turn off when your battery is getting low, a mechanical will go as long as you keep pressing the button and you can damage/ruin a battery that way.

I have a Aspire Nautilus Mini I want to keep using but I want a tube mech mod. I have an iTaste MVP 2.0 & an iTaste VV 3.0 already. Thanks for all the awesome advice!

Oh, you're set on the regulated stuff for a clearomizer then.

Yeah, I do like the form and size of a mechanical... and the cost of the clones on the china sites can't be beat. FastTech is my favorite, you have to dig through the discussions and reviews to know what your getting because there are at least a couple versions of the new mods and 30 or more of the ones that have been around for a while. Some good, some bad.

Stingray X is a good mod to get started with and you can change to hybrid top cap later... both types are included.

No problem, have fun with it and I'm guessing you will be moving on to rebuildables in a couple months.

You will learn a lot at VU, people here are very helpful. What was once intimidating will start to seem doable, then you will do it and be like... that wasn't that hard. Rebuildables produce a much more robust satisfying vape, I do hope you get there soon ;)

Thanks. I'm looking at rebuildables for the future. Looking for the best ones and stuff. Vaping has become a really cool thing for me and I have nothing but love for this forum/community! It's my favorite vaping forum by far.

I tried to order batteries from Fasttech and they said it would take 45-60 days to ship. I was like, "Oh HELL naw! Cancelled!" lol

lol

Hey when you are ready for a rebuildable I have a nice and simple Youde IGO-W or W4 for like $10 shipped and I would also build and wick it for you ahead of time so you can can try it right away plus see an installed coil in person before tackling your first wrap (though really nothing to it at all). Plus can include a little Kanthal and organic cotton.

If you want to order batteries, get them from somewhere in the US. They have some funny ideas about shipping batteries in China and they take the slow boat so to speak.

Yeah... I figured that out. I didn't know Fasttech was in China until I went to look at shipping options. *Facepalm*

Sure. It helps us both out; would be harder for me to sell this cheaper dripper in general; most people may as well buy a new one for ~$15, if anything. And I have too much stuff; can only vape one thing at a time haha

Yeah these are good starters (and good attys in general for the price) and hey it's not even a clone lol
