If money was not an issue, which mech mod would you want and why?

New to mechs and looking into getting a decent one. Something that is not a clone. What would you guys/gals recommend?

A Poldiak, and/or a Roller. Mainly because the fire button is in a place I'm used to from my regulated mods: on the side, near the top. And also because Poldiak's are A-1 quality, and I believe Rollers are considered very high quality as well. And both are exquisitely designed; the roller particularly; it's sleek, clean, no fuss or frills.

I can't see paying more than a couple hundred bucks for a mech mod unless it was made of a precious metal or had insane hand etching.

The most expensive mod I have bought was an authentic copper Nemesis, but I am finding that GP and Gus are making incredible stuff for around $100US. Go figure, Bulgaria and Greece and their CS and shipping times are some of the best to North America I have seen.

I would likely order another Gus that is a bit more fancy in the $150US range if money was no object. I have a couple dozen mechs and beyond $150-200, I personally can't justify it. YMMV....

Likely something like this....

I've been lusting over this for a while
http://dragonsdenvapor.com/Hollowpoint-by-Silver-Wolf-Customs-hollow.htm

Why? Fully mechanical, excellent build quality, great ergonomics and hits very well.

I love good quality Filipino Mech's.
Filipino Mod's I've got are the
Anubis
Margarita
and I have the Satan on pre-order

My Anubis and Margarita I absolutely love, great price point. They are by far my favorite Mod's. I do have the VCP Piglet and Big Pig also, love them for a series Mods. But something has to be said about Filipino Mech's, they really do it well.

I am in with Frank and ro55co. For tubes any AmeraVape,Kennnedy, TVL, or Rogue,..boxes anything from MCM Mods or any other Fhilippino shop as well. They know their business and make great mods series or parallel.
U.S. For tubes and Pilippino for boxes all the way.

Well I'm sure you're right anen because if you stroll through alibaba the mods you mention are the most heavily cloned by the most prominent cloners. And now they're crafting more Vaperz Cloud stuff too.

Didn't check a clones yet, but mentioned authentics are worth their price. Actually I am lying to you,.. Friend has authentic Able and he has a clone as well. If you hit em with your eyes closed can't tell which one is which. Only difference is that machining on AV is impeccable.

There is something about aluminum man. I use to have authentic Manhattan v2 in brass and aluminum one as well. Aluminum one could not come even close to that brass. It looked like it wasn't even made by same company. Very "gritty" switch .

Haven't bitten on the subzero because I don't know if it will stand the test of time (vapocalypse)

The Kennedy Roundhouse clearly will.
Subzero wasn't my cup of tea( read Whiskey lol). Rubber band and plastic cup switch just didn't work for me. Roundhouse can be destroyed only by a nuclear blast.
If you have a Roundhouse and a spare switch($30) you are ready for vapocalypse.

Thanks for this info. I know now to stick to American made mech tubes and Filipino for mech boxes.

I just wish Kennedy can make a 30mm tube, even better stacked tubes to satiate a chain vaper like myself with big attys. LOL Most of my rta and RDAs I own are in the 30-30+ mm size range. Oh well I'll keep shopping around but good to know that Americans rule for the tubes since I'm interested in those for my first ever mech tube.

We are in the same boat man. I wish for a Kennedy series box, or any size stacked hybrid tube. I chain as well and like it hot on top of it.
For some reason combination Roundhouse with Kennedy atty hits better then any other combo (tube/atty) that I had so I let em all go.

i already have some pretty dope mechs. even if i had an excessive amount of money i wouldnt pay more for some engraving or some prototype edition of something... seems silly to me.
what i would do though is go to a jeweler and have him replicate all of the bits of everything i do have but in .999 solid silver.
maybe even have him clone a mod and rda but in silver... shit would be sweet.

The one I like the best when I go shopping.....

As far as mechs go the whole authentic vs Clone things is way over-blown, as far as peformance and quality goes. Intelectual property arguements aside. I expect initial quality and presentation to be superior with Handmade vs mass produced stuff. But, as with anything else.. True quality is determined after considerable amounts of use and abuse.

A mech for me is about durability and simplicity. They are what I take for a day of 4 wheeling and Hiking. Drop it in a creek, you wipe it off and vape-on. Trust me 1 week bouncing around my Jeep, or just in my pocket, the clone and authentic will look and perform exactly the same.

So go authentic, If you can or must, for principled reasons. But don't do it purely based on a notion of quality. No authentic is better by the margin of difference in price.

some cloners dont or cant do what authentics do though....
i have authentic and clone ables and parts arent interchangeable because the threading on authentic ameravape stuff is unique, very few pieces outside av will actually catch the threading. vape is different but not life changing, especially considering the authentic was around 1000% more expensive.
i also have authentic and clone scndrls and the clone doesnt hit nearly as hard as the authentic. the tube itself isnt as thick, the mod feels lighter and its hot button central compared to the authentic. the authentic has a special magnet set in the button housing which does fit in the clone.
so, some of the higher end stuff isnt being cloned 1:1, materials feel more lightweight and cheaper, dont hit as hard, have conductivity issues especially with arcing and hot buttons due to design and threading....
not against cloning in any way nor am i an av or los fanboy, since to me the hardest hitting piece i own is my copper rogue, but you can definitely tell the difference betwen authentic and clone when you own both and vape both, especially with the pricier american made shit.

I was like I bit the bullet since I've yet to own a tube mod yet. So this will be my first! Hopefully it hits really hard. I was looking for 26650 but found that battery size hard to find good brands. So excited. Don't know what to expect with tube mods or if it's a different lifestyle or what. LOL but it's on the way! So excited!

ETA: it's stacked so hopefully this will help with my chain vaping. Lol

The only real diff is that tube mods are much easier to knock over, when standing on end -- so you better have an atty that can lay on its side. :D

Thanks for the tip! Yes I have attys that will sit flushed with this mod. :)

I'll make sure to have a nice resting spot for it so it does not get knocked over.

Sitting flush isn't the issue. Some attys will leak like a sieve if they lay on their sides, or even get knocked over for just a second... or, if it's glass and you knock it over... well, glass doesn't take kindly to being knocked over. :D This is why I no longer use tube mods, even though my Achilles never leak, and titanium doesn't break... I just hate knocking stuff over, but I'm clumsy. I've got 2 mechs (tubes) and 2 sigelei Zmax's (tubes) but I never use them anymore, because my box mods will sit up much better!

I differ, Clones are very much hit and miss. I have an Authentic Anubis mod and I got the Clone, night and day in terms of performance and quality. I have a couple of Dragon Clones, I'm very happy with them, but there are a couple of minor quality issues. I also have a couple of Velocity Clones and a couple of Authentic Velocity's, the authentic Velocity's quality is far superior. There are a few other I won't list but you get the idea.

Most generally the old saying is you get what you pay for, but sometimes not. Just do your homework.

Very much this. Both of my mechs are clones, but I searched up a lot of reviews and videos on both of them, in both their authentic and clone forms; the 2 I have are both considered in many ways actually better than the authentic they're cloned from, but cost about 1/3 as much. (ETA: and sometimes there are different makers of clones -- be sure to find the one that gets the best reviews.)

As your only real stipulation is that it be a mech, my hands down all-time favorite is the REO mechanical squonker. American-made like a tank. Easy to rebuild internally if that ever became necessary.

For non-squonk, also love my Pinoy mechs. Been eyeing that Satan, just because it is handsome, lol.

I'd like to do that but I don't like the throat hit of a level 6 gives me. I'll just have to learn more control. Now that I have a mech, hopefully it will help me slow down since the quality of the hits will degrade throughout the day. This will teach me how to conserve my hits when I'm at work. In theory.... ;)

I hope I like the mech tube scene . I've always admired seeing people with mech tubes. Never ventured into it until now, since I've had a while to really be at the level of mastering my ohms law and battery safety. Also I made sure that I have the ability to build without the aid of a calculator, and at a level of winging it and coming up with any build that matches the ohm meter closely. Hehehe. I'm ready for the next step thanks to this community and lots of heavy reads. :)

Yeah, it's good to spend some time getting used to all that technical shit, and knowing you can build coils that won't overstress your batteries. I'm a very conservative vaper, usually somewhere between 1.75-2 ohms, and very low wattage (10-ish), but I was afraid of mechs when I first started; once I asked some sharp battery-guru guys over at ECF a billion questions, and learned to use the Ohm's Law tab at steam-engine, i felt a lot safer, and got those 2 -- which stay in the drawer awaiting vapocalypse -- even if vaping does implode and all my reg boxes die and I can't get more, at least I'll still be able to vape with those mechs. Got 4 Kicks too in the stash, since I like low-wattage vaping. :D

Series so you need lots of wire and build high. Don't build below 0.4 ohms, I like around 0.7-0.9 ohms on my series mods.

Glas is more a collectors item. If you really want a great hitting mod for 100 or less go with the vcm. Avey makes great mods too the able and time keeper are really hard hitters.

It's really more from the nicotine, though higher PG will accentuate that. But I use 85% PG, and since I've dropped to 3.5mg (from the original 10mg), I have to use a LOT more Flash to get the TH i want.

That's a fat ass mod you got. That thing has a direct arty to battery cap I think and vaperz cloud makes hybrid attys for it. It should knock you balls off. Get good batteries and you're ready to go. I use LG HG2(poo brown) in all my mechs and build down to .3 for series, and .08 for tubes. Some will say it's stupidly low but HG2s don't show any stress and give me a great run time as well. What can I do, I like hot Vape and troublesome women. Lol.

I would have bought it, if it had direct to battery top cap, unfortunately it has a 510 pin.

I build my series mods at .3 and 0.8 for tubes as well and use HG2s lol..
